How did you decide?!

I started dress shopping this week. I immediately found two dresses I am in love with. I cannot decide which I like more. My family and friends also love both and it's pretty even on who like which more. I don't know what to do!! How did you decide on your dress?!

Re: How did you decide?!

  • Since you are stuck between two dresses you should try the trick they do on SYTTD.  Put one of the dresses on and look at yourself.  Then close your eyes and have the consultant hold the other dress up to you.  Open your eyes.  This should help you see both quickly and you should be able to get an immediate reaction to which one you like best.

Luckily for me I was not torn between two dresses.  I knew I had found THE dress as soon as the consultant put on the sparkly wrap around headband.  Doing that just kind of really made me feel like a bride in the dress and I just fell in love with it.

Have you tried dressing yourself up with jewelry and veils in the dresses?  That may help too.

Also, if you have pictures we are more then willing to let you know which one we like the most :)

  • When I put it on, I never wanted to take it off.
What did you think would happen if you walked up to a group of internet strangers and told them to get shoehorned by their lady doc?~StageManager14

    Ditto.

Although, I will say I had a close runner it up. It was gorgeous, but I realized it wasn't right for my wedding. I agree - post pictures! Or at least links!

  • I want to wear both of them! I can see myself wearing both everyday lol. I told my friends and family I'm wearing the dress I pick to breakfast the next day. I just can't decide!! I'll send you both link privately. My fiancé wants to see the dresses so badly he probably stalks the forums hahaha.
  • If I had found two dresses that I absolutely LOVED equally... I would have looked at the price tag :)

  • Almost same exact price!!!!
  • Haha, well, then flip a coin!

Just kidding.  As much as I hate SYTTD, I like Maggie's suggestion of doing what they do.  You have to go with your gut and imagine yourself in the dress on your wedding day.  Then once you decide, don't second guess yourself!  It's so easy to do that, but once you have the dress you adore, make a decision to commit to it!

I had my sister take photos of my three top favorites. When we looked at them on the phone there was NO QUESTION which one looked better! I would have been perfectly happy leaving with any of those dresses, but I have no doubts that I got *the* dress by looking at the photos side by side.

  • A lot of places won't let you take pictures but if they do it will give you the ability to see both at the same time. I was incredibly indecisive and had two totally different dresses I was stuck between, both at the same price point. I went to a different shop and ended up getting a dress that was a mix between the two. I didn't get that "feeling" you see on TV, but it made me feel good and my mom cried so I knew it was the one. Up until that point she had dresses she loved, but that was the first time she got really emotional about it.

It also helps if you have a certain mood for the wedding that you want the dress to fit. My mom pulled a dress that was way too modern and wouldn't have fit the venue at all, even though I really liked it.

  • i had tried on a few dresses like 6 months before i really started to look everything was older styles ( few years older like 2-5 years from designers at a local bridal consignment nothing i really loved but i knew from trying on dresses there i wanted to try on currant morliee dresses. so when the time came i made an appointment at a bridal salon that had tons of plus sizes i had 15 dresses and narrowed it down to 2 i needed to think about it because this was a big purchase and also because another salon was supposed to get some Boony loners for me.

well when i called the salon to confirm about the bonnys they said they will not be in till august as she was ordering a good amount of plus size gowns to stock in her store. i knew at that point i did not want to wait till august and went to one other store localy but the plus size selection was limited and more on the smaller sizes 16s 18s i felt nothing. i kept thinking about this morliee gown, so i went back and put a deposit down
