Reception after destination wedding...

I am having a destination beach wedding and then a traditional reception back home 2 weeks later. My etiquette/protocol question is whether it is more appropriate for us to already be at the reception when the quests arrive, or if we should make an "entrance" (where we are announced and there is music playing) after everyone has arrived. Does anyone have any experience with this? Thank you!!

Re: Reception after destination wedding...

  • No entrance, if you're going to do this.

And FYI, a "traditional reception" happens right after the ceremony, not two weeks later.
  • Be there already. It's a party, not a wedding reception.

What did you think would happen if you walked up to a group of internet strangers and told them to get shoehorned by their lady doc?~StageManager14

No, I'm just playing, we will do something similar when we come back as well. But we're having a bbq. No entrance, no dresses, etc. Like pps said, It's just a party
  • As everyone above said, your party at home will not be a "wedding reception" so don't treat it as one.  No bridal gown, wedding party, gifts, cake-cutting.

The actual "wedding reception" needs to take place on the day of the "destination wedding" for anyone invited, and only those persons can be invited to any other "pre-wedding" or "post-wedding" parties.
