Bridesmain dropped out...

I had a bridesmaid drop out out of our wedding 5 weeks before the event. Have any of you ever had this happen? I feel like such a freak, honestly...

First off, I'm sorry that your bridesmad dropped out of the wedding.  That totally stinks.  I assume that she has her gown, etc.  That's a shame that she decided to drop out with only 5 weeks until the wedding.

Second- although that didn't happen to me, I have heard of that happening to other people.  You are NOT a freak! *lol*

Don't let this get under your skin, just concentrate on your wedding and how much fun you will have.  And don't worry about uneven sides or other nonsense.  Trust me -- you will still have a wonderful wedding.  :)

Third - I am in wedding withdrawal since my daughter's wedding was 10 weeks ago - I'd love to hear all the details about yours!

Thank you so much for the reassurance. Things ended up working out for the best because we had a groomsman who had no idea how to afford the tux, so we made him "head usher," since our ushers are just wearing shirts and ties/dresses. When my DF talked to him, he was so relieved because he didn't know how to tell us he couldn't get the tux. It's just hard to know that friendship is over, at least for now.

Like most brides, I am MORE than glad to share about our details! We're having our ceremony at a beautiful Catholic church and the reception at the Georgetown Center in Pleasant Hills. The girls are wearing elegant blue dresses from Alfred Angelo with platinum sashes. My dress is off the shoulders, with a semi-cathedral train that has a cut of pastel blue in it. It's a lace up bodice, with blue laces and has small pearls and crystal-things all over it. It was love at first sight! The guys are wearing I guess their called morning jackets with gray pinstripe slacks and ascots -- DF and I loved that look! Small party, now just 2 attendants on each side. 142 invites, and it looks like less than 120 guests.

Favors are blue and silver picture frames that double as seating cards, programs are homemade with a verse about snowflakes on them -- our theme is snowflakes/blue and silver. Let's just hope we don't have the pre-req snow and ice outside!

Thanks for asking -- what was your daughter's wedding like? I love hearing about other weddings!

I'm also having a blue and silver wedding with the girls in dresses from AA.  It sounds like your wedding is going to be great!  That stinks about the BM dropping out a month ahead of time, but I'm glad it all worked out for the best.
I had actually asked someone this summer to be in my wedding, she said yes, but them 3 months later she told me she couldn't afford the dress and was sorrt.  Since it was like 9 months before the wedding and FI hadn't yet asked his groomsmen (Still needs 1 more currently..grrrr)  iit was no big deal.  So it does happen, even though the time line here was much different.

daven - your wedding sounds divine!

I love those colors!  One of yesterday's brides had those colors as well.

Your dress must be so pretty!  At my own wedding (27 years ago!) my husband also wore a morning suit with an ascot.

It does seem as though things have worked out for the best in regards to the bridesmaid issue.  :)

My daughter got married on October 16th at Heinz Chapel and the reception was at LeMont.  It was a beautiful wedding -- except we had SNOW in the morning and then rain and fog for much of the day.  But we had an amazing photographer who made us forget about the crappy weather. :)

A couple of posts below this one is a link to a blog post and slideshow of my daughter's wedding. The thread is aptly titled:  AW - My daughter and son-in-law's pro photos.

Again - welcome to the boards.  I hope you stick around and share all of your plans and photos with us!

26Summer~ which dress did you go with from AA? I wasn't a fan of their Monroeville store, but I love love LOVE their dresses!

Moraine~ I'll definitely check those out. Thanks for the welcome. I used to post here a little more, then life went insane. Now, I think I'm going insane lol!

I think the thing that's the hardest is that I know the friendship is over for now, and I can't quite understand how/why this all happened so close to the wedding... I've tried to be the anti-zilla!

Where did you get your dress?  My bridesmaids are wearing this one:

    I am wearing this one:

Both are from AA in the north Hills-they were really nice to me there.  Also, AA is the ONLY bridal store in my small town in maryland, so that has been helpful.  Would love to see a picture of your dress and your BM dresses!

Summer, I'll have to try to figure out how to post the pictures... I'm still new over here and can't figure out how to avoid having HUGE pictures lol. I went through AA's Monroeville store, and it was kinda rough, especially for my girls. They were all reduced to tears after their fittings, which I felt horrible about.

PP-- isn't that place beautiful? I've loved dealing with the folks over there. Did you pick your entrees yet?
