Your decision. I've never been to NY so I couldn't tell you. I had a May wedding and it was cloudy, but in Seattle May is has been nicer than June (we are weird like that). I would aim for more sun but that's up to you.
  • I, personally, think it's too early to be booking. Two years is a long time and the venue could go bankrupt by then. If you do book, make sure you're covered in your contract.

As for your question, I would go with June. Is there a reason why you wanted the last weekend of May?
  • I live in upstate ny. What venue?

I think June weather is much more predictable around here.
  • I vote June.

There's really no difference between May 31 and June 1. One day could be nice and the next day could be beautiful. If that's the venue for you, book it regardless.

I had a June wedding in upstate. Where in upstate are you looking? It's not too early to book depending on what part of the upstate region you're looking into. I got married June 1st and it was 85* and sunny. But spring in CNY is a HUGE gamble, so the later into summer you go the better your chances of nice weather are. The difference between my 6/1 wedding and the weekend prior was nothing weather wise really. My biggest thing would be to realize that the last weekend in May is a holiday weekend, so things book up, prices may be higher, and you may be competing with local events.

  • Darlin', I live in upstate NY (Rochester) and I definitely get where you are coming from. Upstate NY weather is always up and down; it rains, it snows, it's humid. Ya never know what you're gonna get. Either one is gonna be wonderful. There isn't much difference between the end of May and the month of June in terms of weather and flowers. :)

If you want a good laugh, I booked my wedding in Rochester NY towards the END of fall (11/16). So I might have beautiful weather or snow on my wedding day! But hey, fall is my favorite time of year and I wouldn't have it any other way. Do what makes you happy and everything will work out for the best!
  • Go for June. I'm from Albany originally and we have had snow in May. June is beautiful--I'm a school teach and I think of the days where I stared out the window longingly because the weather turns to happiness!

You'll never be subject to a cash bar, gap, potluck wedding, or b-list if you marry a Muppet Overlord.
  • From a former Syracuse girl...I vote June.  My friend got married in June of this year in Syracuse and the weather was beautiful.  There can be some pretty serious cold snaps in May.
  • If you really like the venue, I would go for June.  The weather in NY seems to calm down more around this time of year, and you should be able to beat most of the bugs in the beginning of the month.

    Happy Planning

  • June.  May can be quite chilly in New York State.
