Loews Landmark Theater on a budget. Help!!!

Hi everyone,

We just recently got engaged, and are looking to get married sometime in the winter or spring of 2015. We have lived in Jersey City for all of our lives so it would be so great to have our wedding there. The problem: We are on a tight budget. We are going to invite about 110 people, and we would like to keep the whole shebang under $15,000 (excluding the dress and rings). I don't think that is possible at all, unless I get really creative.

The problem with the Loews is that you have to bring in everything - tables, chairs, plates, etc. That seems to drive up the cost considerably.

Can anyone recommend a good caterer that would work with our budget? I would like to have a buffet reception with a full bar. With the food, booze, and rentals, would it even be possible to keep it under $7,000? We don't need anything fancy, but the food has to be good. We would be willing to have the wedding on a Friday and in the off-season if that helps.

Thanks so much!

  • T&L Catering has really great buffet pricing.  I think the issue you're going to have is alcohol and table/chair/linen rentals.  They are not cheap.  you might consider just doing a heavy cocktail reception with no formal seating.
  • You also have to be careful because the Loews Theater doesn't have heating capabilities for food so your caterer will have to have everything pre-cooked and use the burners underneath.

  • Everything I've ever heard about Lowes is that it's more trouble than it's worth and often ends up costing more than another venue.  Have you looked as Casino in the Park?

  • Congratulations on your engagement!  This is a really off-the-wall suggestion, but what about Zeppelin Hall for a casual wedding?  Their private room hosts up to 200+, and you choose exactly what goes in the buffet, so that could be a good way to keep prices down instead of paying per person for oodles of food.  They also have that nice indoor/outdoor thing going on.  But you would have to really be beer-loving, casual people for this to work.  Good luck!

  • St. Peter's also has space rental.  It was on a pinterest location along w/ Zeppelin here
