XP: Does it matter?

Yes I posted this on another board but I wanted to post it here as well because this is where I get the most responses.....

I have a question. I hope it's not confusing....

I have been told that traditionally bridal party members do not get save the dates / invites. How do I go about doing the invites for "split" families? Example: Tony is married. Tony is a groomsman. Do I send the save the date and invitation to his wife only or to both of them anyway? Another example: Alexandria and her husband live with her mother. Would the save the date and invite be for the husband and mother only? Does it matter if I include the bridal party members on the save the dates and invites or not?

Re: XP: Does it matter?

  • I realise that the etiquette differs greatly between South Africa and the US, but every wedding I've been involved in the bridal party got anything a normal guest would get - including save the dates and invites. So I would send the invitation to both Tony and his wife jointly.

Also, if you're inviting Alexandria and her husband, and her mother, that's two separate invitations - one for Alexandria and her husband, one for her mother. The mother may be living with them (or they living with her), but she's a separate entity, so you send her a separate invitation - as you would for a major child still living at home.

  • I've always sent/received invites for WP.  They need to know dates, times and locations too.
