In Response to Re: Come out, Come out, wherever you are! : I don't think it was a tornado that came through here, the buzz word with the meteorologists this year seems to be straight line winds. Then the hail was terrible, I can't believe how loud it was. It's a pretty helpless feeling to sit in your house and just listen to windows breaking, hearing it rip apart the trees and smash up your vehicles. Our kitten was so scared she crawled into my house slipper and wedged herself in the closet. Pure craziness. Insurance basically told me to get quotes and then laughed at the fact that I was actually going to try and get through to someone today. I have to get the windows on the house fixed asap, but I'm thinking I'll probably give it a couple of days to call about the roof and the cars. Let the craziness calm down some before I even attempt to get through.

Aw poor kittah, she was scared.

Yeah I say tend to the windows first. The rest can wait. Just called Mom, she is fine, no damage. But you were right something touched down on Moorefield Rd. North of town.

• yikes jcb, that's scary! Is everything ok where you are?

Steph and Shay, ok I thought it was really weird and it said something about it being in one of TK images too, so maybe it was a bad picture or something that got uploaded.

• Good Morning.

J&K, I'm sorry you have the ickies

Wrkn, that hair cut looks fabulous on you! You're so cute!

dmill, I'm so sorry. That sucks majorly.

As for me, I'm feeling pretty proud of myself today. i weighed-in and am only .1lb away from another official lb loss. Today's the one month anniversary of starting our new diet and I'm amazed. I had 2 C of broccoli with dinner last night and loved it. I can't get enough of veggies now and I think I'm starting to see changes.
• Congrats on the weight loss, Anna! I LOVE steamed broccoli. I love to steam broccoli and cauliflower (fresh, it gets too soggy if you do the frozen steamer bags, for me), and then melt some butter (well, light margarine, actually) and then squeeze some lemon on top, and sprinkle with just a tiny bit of sea salt and freshly ground black pepper. OMGYUM. Or, in the absense of fresh lemon, sprinkle with a tiny bit of sea salt and a good amount of lemon pepper seasoning.

Everything the light touches is my kingdom.
• Oh Hai...I haven't been starting many morning threads these days...my mornings have been crazy busy. I am so ready for summer it hurts.

I am currently eating my black bean and avocado salsa for lunch and preparing myself for 60 slideshow presentations on immigration for the rest of the day...oh joy.
• Congrats on the weight loss, Anna. That's so exciting and I agree with the tastiness of broccoli, I could eat it every day. I've been procrastinating on a much needed diet and need to get my ass in gear. We are planning to start TTC soon and I've read that carrying extra belly weight can increase your chances of multiples. It's probably not true, but I'm planning on avoiding all of these things since twins and triplets run so heavy in both of our families. Multiple bebehs scares the crap out of me.

Glad your Mom is ok, kd! I thought about you and your family last night watching the path of the storms.

Thanks!
I got a cuisinart rice maker and steamer that steams cauliflower to perfection. It's wonderful, easy, and fast.
I discovered butter buds and there are cheddar cheese flavored ones that really kick up a veggie dish. I haven't tried lemon-pepper on it yet..ooh I might do that tonight.
• Dmiller, that is scary! I hope they get everything fixed quickly.

Anna, I am SO PROUD OF YOU! You are doing awesome. Keep it up.

Numbers, you're awesome. Just wanted to remind you of that.

At our local grocery they have Kernal Seasons popcorn flavoring stuff. It's a powder that you can sprinkle on popcorn, veggies, pasta and anything really. They make several flavors, I like white cheddar and nacho cheddar the best. Michael hates most veggies and this is one of the only ways I can get him to eat them. MIght be worth checking out, I like having a little variety to veggies.

• Oh Jas, you have no idea how much I needed to hear that.

I am also doing well in the weight lost category...as of this morning I was at 24lbs lost since new years. I just recently started following a new system (if anyone is really interested in seriously losing weight, go google Leigh Peele, holy crap, it works). I am losing weight fairly consistently now, which makes me much easier to stick to the plan since the reward is there! I might actually reach my goal for mid-July! woo hoo!

• Congrats on the weight loss anna and numbers! My mom texted me this morning to say she had finally hit her target weight-loss goal (22 pounds). She's been working so hard to stick to the diet and exercise, all while my stepdad pigs out on chocolate cake and cookies. I'm proud her her.

That's kind of like what I have. I like broccoli plain, but it's nice to add some variety. I have these and even the sodium isn't bad:
Anna, That's awesome!! I wish I had your willpower. I really, really do. Also, my aerogarden is officially growing. Little sprouts of herbs. Also, are there any olive oil/vinegar shops where you are? Infused oils and vinegars would be yummy with all the veggies you're eating.
Posted by jcbsjr
OMG once it starts growing, it goes quickly. I've been getting fresh lettuce every day out of my AeroGarden. i made fresh pizza sauce last night with the basil. Sadly, no olive oil shops. i'm lucky to find a Bertolli extra virgin olive oil out here. heathens.
Anna, check out this website then! They have a Tuscan Herb olive oil that is soooo good! Last night I picked up avacado infused oil and jalapeno infused balsamic vinegar. I can't wait to try them! I have my lettuce kit and basil kit standing by for when the herbs are done. Since I bought the garden with amex points, I'm seriously thinking about getting a second one. Though, I may try some pot veggies since I haven't had time to get a garden together ths year. http://www.thetastefulolive.com

Good morning (well almost afternoon) ladies!

Sorry to hear about the storm damages D, but glad that it's just things that were harmed and not any people/pets in your house! I hope the insurance company is easy to work with and doesn't hassle you at all - good luck!

I can't believe I'm single digit days away from the wedding now, frigging crazy. We're going to the venue on Saturday to give them our final payment, placecards, menus, favors, programs, bubbles, guestbook etc etc. I'm picking up my dress Friday night after work. J's dress is already at our house, hidden in an extra bedroom. I've been very good and have no peaked. I want to see her in it, not see it hanging up on a hanger. Our first OOT guest is arriving this Friday too and staying for an extended visit with my parents. I still have to write my vows, whoops. J does too though so I don't feel bad. I'm starting to turn into a ball of nerves and excitement. I want to fast forward this week and just be at that date already, I don't think I can stand the build up much longer!

Don't blame yourself. You come off as pretty weight loss savvy. It's most likely the pill. Hormonal changes can mess a body up hardcore. If you're sure you're doing everything right, then I'm confident you are. it'll all fall into place, I'm sure, as soon as your body gets everything sorted out.
• Nebb, I've gained weight since going off of bc too. Don't let people tell you that it's only when you start taking it that you gain, they don't know what they're talking about.

I'm in a funk today. I can't seem to pull myself together.

going off the pill effing sucks then, i have almost constant acne on my chin now, hairs sprouting up all over my face and im gaining weight. stupid hormones.

thanks guys - thought i was weight loss savvy but this whole ordeal is really throwing me for a loop.
• So far, we've avoided all but one day of major storms, BUT - then again, we've only really had one or two days above 80.

I've given up predicting the weather around here.

But - I'm so glad you guys are alright. I get all panicky during warnings, and try to hide it, which means I talk continuously and fast.

I'm thrilled about starting the long weekend early tomorrow. I just put in for a half day and it was approved.

Going off BC screwed me over too. :( My boobs got smaller, my tummy got bigger, my acne went crazy, and my hair got oily. Dammit.

If you're like me, the effects even out after a couple months. But yeah, you have to adjust your lifestyle to improve appearances, and it sucks ass.
