First Dance as a Married Couple

My Fiancee and I are having one heck of a time trying to find that right first dance song.  We're both huge country fans with a little of top 40, pop, etc. mixed in.  My Fiancee really doesn't dance much while I love to dance.  He has agreed that as long as he approves the song, he doesn't care much about it being slow, fast, or a medium paced song.  We're more of a "best friends that fell in love" type couple rather than the mushy song type.  Any suggestions on a song for us that is more slightly upbeat rather than a super slow, sappy, mushy song?  Thanks to all!

  • First, you don't have a fiancee (female), you have a fiance (male).

Do you have a favourite band/group/artist?  What kind of music do you like?

  • Our first dance will be to "Today Was a Fairytale" by Taylor Swift

  • DH and I used Ingrid Michaelson's "The Way I Am". It's kind of quirky and simple ... and not super long.

We're using Lucky by Jason Mraz and Colbie Caillat.  Here are some country songs that were on a list I got from a DJ...

From This Moment On - Shania Twain
I Cross My Heart - George Strait
    It's Your Love - Tim McGraw/Faith Hill
    Amazed - Lonestar
Forever's As Far As I'll Go - Alabama
My Best Friend - Tim McGraw
You Had Me From Hello - Kenny Chesney

Forever And Ever, Amen - Randy Travis

  • We are planning on using Elvis's "I just cant help falling in love"
  • Not Country or Top 40, but I like 'Stand by Me' as a danceable upbeat non-mushy song with a nice message.

  • We are planning on using the song Adam Sandler sings in the Wedding Singer to Drew Barrymore on the plane, "I wanna grow old with you",... and my brother is singing it and playing it on an acoustic guitar with my cousins, they are all professional musicians too,....

Why not try something quirky like that, out of a movie or tv show?
