Post this on the South Jersey Board.  They will be more help.

I'm not sure of pricing but check out

    The Castle in Delran
Merion (I think it's in Cinniminson?)

Ha the Merion is definitely not inexpensive, it's one of the most expensive venues in that area. A knottie who got married last year had her reception at Valleybrook CC and it was relatively inexpensive.

Check out The Reception Center at St. Clement's in Matawan, and the Riverview Pavilion in Belmar. Two Knotties on this board (they don't really chat anymore) had inexpensive weddings at those places. The Riverview girl negotiated them down to about $50 per head for a Saturday afternoon reception (light cocktail hour - fruit and veggie platters, and some hot passed hors d'oeuvres - a few hot chafing dishes and a carving station for dinner, cake and cookies for desert, and a full open bar).

Didn't someone say that Jack Baker's Lobster Shanty in Point Pleasant is on the inexpensive side? Also try The Forge in Woodbridge, and Courtyard on Main in Freehold.

I've seen photos from weddings at Ocean City Yacht Club and Renault Winery (Egg Harbor) that looked nice, but IDK what the pricing is like.

How many guests does she need to accommodate? She could look on restaurantpassion.com for a restaurant that can fit all her guests. That might be cheaper than a hall.

I would definitely ask on the South Jersey and the Philadelphia boards, too.

Also, if she's booking a short-term date, she might save money that way. If a hall hasn't already booked a date within maybe 6-8 months, they usually drop their prices a lot so they can get at least SOME business that day. I know offhand that The Tides Estate in North Haledon and Bridgewater Manor in Bridgewater (both of which have pretty reasonable prices to start with) offer discounts for short-term dates. Can she plan the wedding in under 6 months?

    Good luck!

The Merion is very expensive but as pp mentioned the Castle in Delran is very affordable. She could also check out Summit Catering. They work with a lot of different reception sites and have packages to fit all different budgets. There is also Laurel Creek Country Club and The Bradford Estate.

I think being so close in is going to help her- what part of the Jersey shore? (it's huge.. which would make it hard for us to give something).

I had my wedding at Renault and not sure about a Fri or Sun but for Sat it was over $110 a pp. You also have to have a 150 min.

try Windsor Ballroom in E. Windsor or even Crystal Ballroom in Freehold. They are both pretty inexpensive. I think the windsor is cheaper...somewhere around 105. for a saturday night and they include a ton in their package. fridays, saturday morning, and sundays are cheaper. PM me if you want more info. I have their packets.

the versailles ballroom at the ramada in toms river, or the atlantis ballroom at the holiday inn in toms river.. they're close to the bayville area.

edit: there is also vanity fare on route 70, not sure if its lakewood or toms river. the food there is great and the ballroom very pretty, just not that great from the outside.  it is by far the most inexpensive place i've seen.

Oh yeah the hotels in TR have good rates too. I know one of them is the sister hotel to where the Crystal Ballroom is located, the other is the sister to the Windsor Ballroom.
