Gift for Singer?

A friend will be singing in my wedding.  I know I buy gifts for my MOHs, but do I buy something for her as well? A little something?

Re: Gift for Singer?

  • It would be nice if you could. I bought a gift for my friend who sang in my wedding--it was similar to the gifts I got for the ushers.
  • I gave my vocalist a hundred bucks.

  • Give her a nice gift because singing is actually working for some people (in fact if it were someone else's wedding she would be paid pretty well). She could very well spend hours and weeks working on a song; just remember performing requires so much more time than just the actual performance.

I had a very talented musician friend who felt really badly (but was too nice to say anything) that she was asked to play in so many weddings in which she was treated as if she was being honored. She felt kind of used and then to top it off the couples gave her things like wedding-date-stamped picture frames that really weren't gifts at all.
  • We gave my cousin and her husband a gift card for a nice restaurant.
  • Thanks for the suggestions!  They are perfect!  I'm not paying her. She actually asked if she could sing in the wedding, and it was fine with us. But i think something is appropriate.  Thanks all!
