I found this on The Knot: http://wedding.theknot.com/wedding-planning/wedding-invitations/qa/when-to-send-wedding-invitations.aspx

Looks like they say 8 Weeks before the wedding.

    Hope this helps!
  • Invitations are sent out 6 to 8 weeks before the wedding. The RSVP date should be 2 to 4 weeks before the wedding. Let us know if you need any help with proofreading your invitations!

The only thing I would add is to keep in mind when your venue needs your final numbers. If you have your RSVP deadline 1 week prior to when your venue needs your numbers then you'll have a week to track down those who haven't sent theirs back.

  • We're sending ours out on Friday, which is 8 weeks and 1 day before our wedding.

Make sure you read your venue contract. I thought I did and I was wrong but the invites were already printed. I thought our final headcount was due 14 days prior and that's what I based our RSVP date on. Turns out it's 14 BUSINESS days prior, so now if people are late responding we're going to run into a small issue. Oh well. Things have been smooth sailing so far...maybe that will be our biggest problem.

  • Ditto on the venue RSVPs. My venue needs our seating chart 1 month prior, so we're sending out the invites 3 months in advance with an RSVP date of 2 months in advance. That gives us a month for the seating chart & rounding up the stragglers.

Second thing to consider is if you have hotel room blocks. Ours only held until 2 months prior, so we wanted to make sure that everyone had the invite info with time to make their hotel reservations. Nothing is more frustrating than receiving an invite & realizing that you only have a day to book your room.
