Mason Jars?

I am NOT a fan of favors. At all.  Our reception is country and we will have mason jars as part of our decor.  I'm thinking I might put a mason jar at each place setting, with the lid tied to it, and the silverware inside of it.  Attached will be a note that says something along the lines of "use me for a beer or a signature drink, and if you want to take me home I'm all yours".

What are your thoughts on this?  I can, so if there are leftovers, it's not like it's a waste.

    We did something similar at my daugthers wedding.  Our note said, "Use this to enjoy a beverage tonight, and at home, to enjoy your personal beverage".

    We also used the glasses (we used margarita glasses instead of mason jars) to double as our escort cards.  We created cardstock "limes" that sat on the edge of each glass.  On each lime, the guest name and table number was indicated.  Perhaps you could add that to a sticker and place it on the lid as well.

    I think that sounds like a really cute idea. It's a nice way to give them a little token that is actually useful!  If you can maybe some homemade jam with a tag over it too? People seem to just love food. That always goes over well. But I really like the idea of the silverware.

    I did, at one time, think about doing jam.  I am A, he is J, and our last name is M.  But, I don't want to spend that much time and money on something not everyone will like.  If I do the jars as glasses, it saves me from buying cups/glasses and they are useful that night.  If they don't use them/take them, I can take them home with me and have a use for them.

    It is a cuuute idea, I was actually thinking the same. I'm getting a chalkboard and writing this on it-
    "Fill me up with a cocktail or beer,
    I'm yours for the night so keep me near.
    When this fun night is in its last hours,
    take me home, your gift from the Bauers!"

    so maybe you could say something like-

    "Fill me up with a cocktail or beer,
    I'm yours for the night so keep me near.
    Then take me home at the end of the day,
    'cause I am your gift from A and J!"
