the scary old fudge arrived!

the fudge from my sister arrived yesterday.  had to be at least 10 days old.  thread reference below (i hope it works).

came in a ziploc bag, padded envelope, slighly mushed.  no nice decorative tin or anything.  lame-o.

  • Well.  As you said, it's the thought that counts.

  • Just call her and thank her and tell her how yummy it was.
  • gross.  it went in the trash.
  • You know... I kind of go along with the whole "it's the thought that counts" thing to an extent.  Like, if someone's just slapping something together and tossing it out to you, it kind of reeks of "Eh, I don't really care about you, but I should send you something so I don't look like a jerk." It's actually MORE jerky than just saying, "We didn't get you anything."
  • eh, honestly, it is what it is and i try not to get too terribly bothered.  i feel worse for my mom.  she gets the same gift, and she gives them money and gifts all year long to help them out.  she does so much for them.  i give my mom extra stuff to make up for my sister's lack of giving.

    Same here.

I don't think I've ever had bad fudge.  Even if it was bad, I'd still eat it.  Once I embark on a snack, I'm pretty much all in.
  • Just call and tell her you got it and thanks for the gift... I agree with snipp.. sometimes its better to just not do something for someone then to just throw something together. My moms ex husbands mother.. gave me a bar of soap that was in the shape of a christmas tree one year bc she didnt think I was coming and didn't buy me anything... the soap was in her bathroom so she just threw it in a bag...

    I would have preferred nothing

  • Yummy. It sounds like she sent you (barely) edible coal.

And I don't get an avatar either. I just figured it was me.

  • Once my fiance got banana bread his sister in law mailed him... two years before he got it!  He told the mailroom guy, "This is two years old!"  The guy said, "Better late than never."  He said "This was food!"  "The guy was just like "Oh..."  He peaked inside and it was blue!
