To Trash or not to Trash that is the question?

I always said I would never trash my dress. Well that is because I thought I was going to spend all of my dress budget money on the dress, and that would be expensive. Now that I pick a non- wedding dress to be my dress and I did not hardly spend what I thougt I would, I am considering trashing the dress. I will be one the beach, so part of my says why not. The other part of me says, yes, I am never wearing the dress again but I could sale the dress to a wedding consignment shop and get profit.

Are you guys Trashing your dress?

  • I absolutely will not be trashing my dress.  I don't really get the point of it...

  • I don't have it in me to trash mine. I've ssen some pretty pictures of it done on the beach though but my question is after its trashed in the water do you just throw it in the trash or what?

  • Yeah this is my dilema. I get the point of trashing the dress which is, you will never wear it agian. However, this dress was an apart part of my life. It is what I wore to vow to my soon to be husband my life promises.

So, I see the significants in both. I know I would have fun trashing the dress. And the way my dress is made it probably would not be damaged. But that is my dress. I just dont know.

  • I won't be trashing my dress. I couldn't bring myself to do it.
  • I think if I was in the Caribbean getting married on a beach the dress would already be getting salty and sandy; I probably would do a TTD session to get more fun pictures on the beach in the dress.

But, I'm getting married at a church in NJ, so no TTD session for me.

My thoughts exactly. And, I am not jumping in a freezing cold lake. Nope. Maybe I could run it over with a truck. But, I have plans for it after the wedding. :)

  • I will be! I think it will be a ton of fun. It's not really trashing it. Just getting another day of use out of it and taking lots of fun pictures. I doubt that just getting it wet will really ruin the dress.

  • I photographer does a "rock the dress" shot where you don't trash your dress but where it again in a funky photoshot.  I might do that.

  • Trashing the dress doesn't necesserily mean TRASHING (completely ruining/throwing your dress away).  I modeled wedding dresses for a few years and we did tons of TTD sessions that the dresses were then professionally cleaned and used for future shoots.  It's just a fun way to show of you and your dress without getting dirty the actual day OF your wedding.  It's tons of fun and you can definitely still keep or sell your dress afterwards :)

This is what I'm planning to do

  • I will be doing it.  I am not getting married on a beach, but my parents have a place in Florida, and I have an awesome phtographer friend who really wants me to do it.  So I will be taking her to Florida with me and my dress, along with another friend who is getting married a couple of weeks before me, to do the TTD on the beach in the ocean.  I can still get it cleaned after that to where it will look like it did the wedding day.  Besides any excuse to wear it again I am all about!

  • There is absolutely no way I will trash my dress. I didn't spend over $1000 to ruin it. I'm doing bridal portraits a month before the wedding
  • I don't see myself submerged in water with my dress on, but I think a Rock the Dress shoot would be fun.  I'm considering it, but have no idea who would do it, or where I would do it.  I'm getting married in upstate NY, so maybe pictures in MA would be a nice extra?  Haven't decided yet :)

  • I would love to have water pictures in my dress but my dress is too expensive to trash so i will not be doing it.

I agree with this.  Plus, I want to keep my dress.
