Shoes

Did anyone buy their shoes yet for their gown? I am doing the color scheme Clover (From Davids Bridal) and Ivory. I want clover green shoes. I am not having luck though. I might need to go to DB and check out their shoes. I am also going to go to Payless and see what their dyeable shoes are all about. My friend told me that if I bring in the color swatch from DB, that Payless will be able to match it. Are you wearing the same color shoes as your dress, or did you do something different?

Re: Shoes

  • I just found a pair of shoes that I liked. I had a heel requirement because FI isn't much taller than me. So that was about it. However I originally set out looking for a purple shoe which is my bm dress color. But I settled on silver. My other color.

This is MY problem too!!!!! I asked FI if he would wear higher soles for his shoes, so I could buy higher heels!!!!!! When I like a shoe, I read about it and discover that its like 3 - 5 inches for the heel, and I need like 2 inches or less. Yikes.... I might have to just wear ivory shoes.... my other color. It will match my ivory dress, but I wanted something with flair! I'll keep searching....

    Glad to hear you found yours though!!! <img src="http://cdn.cl9.vanillaforums.com/downloaded/ver1.0/content/scripts/tinymce/plugins/emotions/images/smiley-laughing.gif" border="0" alt="Laughing" title="Laughing" />

  • w+c3 - I had the same problem. I found a pair of lilac shoes I LOVED, but the heel was too high, so I went with silver, also! My colors are lilac, sage & silver & I'm from Indiana, too!
  • I'm wearing purple heels. I may be just a smidge taller than Fi but he doesn't seem to mind. I had originally wanted to wear flats and had a terrible time finding purple flats that I loved. I feel in love with a pair of heels while shopping with Fi and he convinced me to get them and told me the height difference (if there is any once he puts dress shoes on) didn't matter to him.

heels are so high nowadays! i dotn wear heels but started to this summer after i found my wedding shoes that have a heel..i love them! and i have bought some heels to wear out now. i have really narrow feet that they always slip out of pumps even when i go a size smaller.  my wedding shoes strap aroud my ankle so it has been easier to walk in (have been wearing them around the house since yesterday)

make sure you find shoes for when you got for a fitting! did you try dsw if you have one by you!

I guess i should add my shoes are a silver/blingy to match the beading at the top of my dress!

  • I wanted flats for sure and ended up finding a pair of Steve Maddens that I love!  My dress is white white but the shoes are shiny nude and covered in sparkles!

  • Like PPs said, definitely keep in mind the size of your heel. I thought I didn't have to worry about the heel size since I'm 5'8-5'9 and my fiance is 6'1. So, I bought these gorgeous 5 inch heels that I fell in love with. *Side note, 5 inches isn't too tall for me. I'm super comfortable in tall heels and wear them all the time. Anyway, I bought them after I bought my dress. When I went in to pick up my dress, the heels were too high and lifted my dress up off the floor. I was so bummed. So, I sent them back and opted for 3 3/4 inch ones instead, which I think will be perfect. Anyway, definitely take the height into account.

Oh, and my original pair were ivory, although my dress is white. The new ones are silver with some bling. They can be seen here, clickyyy.

  • I think I have mine figured out, but I might have to change them.  My dress has a tulip hem, so I don't know if it can be hemmed to my satisfaction.  When I tried on my dress with the shoes, I was on one of those step things and everyone said the length was ok, but its hard to say since I wasn't on flat ground.

It's even more problematic since I'm between 5'10 and 5'11, and fi is only 6'1.  So I might end up being a little bit taller, or it might be ok.  I guess I'll find out on the 26th.

  • I am wearing Apple red shoes from David's Bridal. They are satin and have a rose detail on the front (called Sassy).  I definitely wanted a color pop under my dress :)

I was just MOH in a wedding this past May and I was in a Clover strapless dress and ordered the Satin Peep Toe with Bow shoes in Clover to match. They were the only shoes that came in the Clover color without having to dye them. They were soooo very adorable and I got a ton of compliments on them...matched the dress to the T. They started to get super uncomfortable by midnight (but I had been in them since 2pm!). They are a cute option if you like them, then you don't have to worry about dyeing them. Super quick shipping too! Those shoes run a little big though so order a 1/2 size smaller if you do want them...

I don't have to worry about height because FI is really tall. I bought some shoes and put swarovski crystals all over them.

I already have my shoes and definitely went for something different!  You don't really see the shoes so I wanted something cute and "surprise-ish".  FI actually picked out my shoes in the end (sailor heels).  I got 3 inch heels but with a 1 inch platform so the heels are really only 2 inches.  I'm almost a foot shorter than FI so it doesn't really matter for me how high the heel was.

I believe in a lot of things. I believe in fresh tennis balls, the healing power of bunnies, and that the novels of Susan Sontag are something I'll never read. In fact, I don't even know who Susan Sontag is. What is she... like... a painter? I believe in Crystal Lite because I believe in ME. I believe in the movies of Val Kilmer, though these days it ain't so easy. I believe in Darren Sproles, the word "dabble", the first season of "Silk Stockings", and big, warm, moist, gooey chocolate chip cookies that melt in your mouth and all over your face.

  • Good luck finding green shoes. Nina has cue green shoes.

All I wanted way green or yellow wedges.... No such luck. I went with ivory wedges, but bought green flower clips to attach!

  • I got my shoes from DB and had them dyed bright blue. They match my MOH's dress and they act as my something blue. I am luck with the heels though, I am 5'4" and FI is at least 6' tall. So my heels are a little over 3 inches.

  • I bought my shoes a long time ago.  They were from David's Bridal.  I went with the traditional white shoe but they are dyable so that could be something you might check out (not sure if it was mentioned I didn't read the whole post).  If you by the dyable shoes from DB you can have them dyed any of their colors for around 4 or 5 dollars.
  • My shoes are HOT pink! :) I love color and I'm all about the shoes, so they're very "me". They're 5", I did want something a little shorter but I love them and found them at Macy's on Clearance so I can't return them, they'll be perfect! I am going to get a pair of hot pink low heels or flats though for the reception so that I can be more comfortable.

  • my shoes are apple green satin and it took me forever to find!  They are pretty low heels, even though I am only 5'2" and FI is 6'2" but I love them!  Here they are, clicky!

They are my favorite wedding find and I can't wait to wear them!  But, yes, green shoes are incredibly difficult to find.

  • My FI is almost 6-4 and I'm 5-6, so I have a LOT of room to play with! hahah I got dark navy blue heels that I'm in LOVE with. I had to do a color pop. It's not the color of the girls dresses. My theme is Peacock, and their dresses are Jade. But it goes along with the whole color scheme.
  • My shoes are these in navy blue:

I definitely wanted heels and some color, so I succeeded in both! They are relatively comfortable and fit my dress perfectly. FI is 7 inches taller than me, so this will bring me a bit closer :)

My only concern is that my shoes will be the same color as my bridesmaids, but I don't think it REALLY matters, since no one will see my shoes most of the day.

    Still here and still fabulous!

  • So nice to see everyone's shoes! Thanks for all of your tips too. I think my best bet is to go to DB's and get them dyed.... that way they match perfectly! Thanks again!!!

  • I found these amazing shoes on myglassslipper.com Sadly, my budget for shoes is barely a third of what they are asking! Anyone have any ideas of where to look? I originally got a cute simple pair from payless. midlevel heel and added some gel strips to help with some discomfort, but they still hurt to be in them for more than an hour. Any suggestions? Thanks!
