Happy Friday!!!!

This is how I feel about not having to work on Monday with all of the inauguration nonsense going on. You couldn't pay me enough for that.

Weekend plans? Does everyone else have a long weekend?

Re: Happy Friday!!!!

  • I have off on Monday so I'm excited for the 3 day weekend! I'm still sick but this wasn't nearly as bad as my last cold and I'm getting better already. I have rehearsal tomorrow morning and Sunday afternoon. Not sure what else we are doing, I believe bf got us tickets for Sunday night to go see Chris Titus at a comedy show.

Not sure what my plans are for Monday. I was going to go to the mall spend some of my gift cards but we'll see how I'm feeling. I believe BF has to work.

    Anniversary

  • I'm flying to Houston bright and early tomorrow to see Aud, Elle (hopefully), and DoubleSS! I'm SO excited! I checked into my flight when I got to work today. We plan to eat and drink and I get to see Aud in her wedding dress! I have off on Monday and get home that afternoon.

Who has flown Southwest? Do I not have an assigned seat?

    ALSO! HOCKEY IS BACK TOMORROW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I'm listening to Rihanna's S&M song and Tina looks like she is too... :)

I'm good for a three day weekend. Work has been craaazy busy. I cannot wait to sleep and chillax excessively for three days.

I plan to test drive some cars this weekend. It is time for a downgrade. Well, down in size and cost. And some clothing shopping. My wardrobe is depressing. Time for some new pieces. I'm thinking of spending lots of my time in TJMaxxes, Nordstrom Racks, and the like.

No assigned seats. They give you a group letter and number and you line up according to that and pick any open seat once you get on the plane. Very interesting process. I just did it for the first time when I went to TX.
  • Peek-my godfather used to commute to DC for work and the only time he would EVER call out sick was on inaguration day. He said it's like a zoo.

danser-I hope you feel better, it sounds like you got what everyone at work has, a cold/flu thing that won't go away.

rdr-I'm jealous! I need a little mini vacay. I've never flown Southwest but I would hope they would have assigned seats. Good luck if they don't lol.

Jen-what cars are you test driving? My little Honda would be something good if you're looking to downgrade. It's a Honda Fit. Believe it or not it's a beast in the snow too lol.

BF is off today but has to work Monday. Tonight I'm cleaning the house and doing laundry, getting ready to have my mom visit for the weekend. Saturday I'm meeting up with the parents in Fishkill, NY having breakfast with my parents and then my mom and I are heading back to Connecticut. We'll probably go to a chef's outlet in a town near me because according to BF we need a meat mallet, a bigger sautee pan and I need a bigger pot to cook gravy (sauce) in so we're going to pick those up there for a lot less $$ than BBB. Saturday night my mom and I are going to drag queen bingo. Sunday we are going to Foxwoods casino and playing bingo (again, she loves bingo). Sunday night we'll probably drink a lot of wine and play board games. Monday we meet up with my dad in Fishkill again to drop her off and my dad will bring her home.

  • I have a 3-day weekend too! I am SO excited... I have a groupon to get my house cleaned, so they are coming Monday afternoon. I start classes on Tuesday, so it's just going to be a big week.

tonight we're going out to eat and get our grocery shopping done, so we can go to a birthday party an hour away and not have to worry about doing anything around the house. it should be fun, and there will be cake. hopefully I can stick with one piece!

I do wish I had today off as well... TOTM and I am feeling crampy and sleepy. not a good combination for a Friday. :(

  • Danser - boo for being sick, but it sounds like it'll be fun.

Rach - I think SW doesn't have assigned seating?

I get to go to Ikea on Monday and get my new bedroom furniture, and probably some extra stuff as well. We're also picking up our table this weekend. (We being me and my new roommate)

It's totally 90s, but we're going to paint the metal a deep eggplant with a little bit of a shimmer on it, and then we're going to reupholster the chairs. We had talked about doing a super soft yellow satin that only looks yellow when you really look hard at it, but I was looking this morning, and I'm kind of in love with these:

I think they are first! It was like A1-30, and A31-60, then B1-30, B31-60, and so on. You know after the people with kids, military, and premiere people or whatever they are called for Southwest get on. So you only have like 40 some people ahead of you.

Oh I wish you lived closer to me, I love dealing with them! It's all about who's going to be the bigger prick and you always have the option of walking away and going to the next Ford, Honda etc dealer down the road. I seriously break b@lls when I buy cars. The Fit is comparable the Fiesta. I have a 2009 and got it with all the options (gps, etc) but next time I would skip on all that.

  • Unfortunately, I don't think I get Monday off. My boss is out of town and the rest of my coworkers usually tell me either the day before or the day of that we have a half day. So hopefully I will have a half day on Monday.

Tonight my BF and I are going out to dinner for our Friday date night. Last night my parents treated us to mexican and I couldn't eat anything because my internal bleaching made my tooth all sensitive and I was worried I would mess up something... today it is still tender so hopefully it will be better by tonight. It looks great though, I'm so happy my teeth are all the same color now haha. Saturday I plan to try to sell some clothes I have that I never wear. Those conseignment stores are so picky so I hope they take some of it. Then I also need to spend my Christmas gift cards too so maybe I'll fit some shopping in.

Yeah car dealers are a little persisitent, but they work off of comission and the economy sucks so they're like leeches.

If you go onto KBB.com and search the make/model/year of the car you're looking you can basically see the "bottom line" price of the car. For example, I pulled up a 2013 Ford Fiest hatchback, the middle package and standard features. The dealer price in my are is 16995 but the dealer invoice is 16338. I would get down to that number and if they don't, call the next dealership and see what their best price is. If the other dealership can get down to a lower number, walk back into the original dealership and tell them "X dealership is offering Y price for the car, can you do better? If not, I'm going there". It's all about negotiating. Just make sure you have the number in your head and also research a couple of dealerships in the area. I had three Honda dealerships working with me since I was paying cash for my car and paid dealer invoice for the car.

My dad taught me how to buy cars and my dad negotiated union contracts for years, and I really don't know any other way to buy a car lol. But it's still fun to get these salespeople all flustered.

    Good luck!

[QUOTE]Happy Friday! I, too, have a three-day weekend and I couldn't be happier. Tonight B and I are going out with his roommate and his roommate's girlfriend (who I think might be a biiiitch but I will reserve judgment until we actually go out in a social setting) for drinks. Tomorrow we are doing stuff around my house, errands, watching Breaking Bad, going to the dog park, and hanging around. Sunday we are headed up to NH to spend time with my parents since they're a little jealous at all the time I've spent with B's family. Monday B works and I'm going to do more house stuff on my own. Woot woot! I have a guy coming to do a paint estimate this morning (I'm sneaking out of work to go home and let him in to do it) so I'm hoping that can move forward soon. I'm going to get my kitchen painted.

My H just shared the #s he found on kbb.com for my trade in car :)
Yea, commission sucks. I would suck at it and be poor. And the negiotating part is what I hate. I like finding things for a price I like and going and buying it from there. Car purchases are so much more complicated than that. I couldn't get the one leech-type guy to give me a final number, so I went with other dealership because they gave me the numbers I wanted, but then they were jerks because the finance guy accidently charged my down payment twice to my debit card, then voided it without telling me. So I got home and my account was locked because he overdrew it and emptied me out! Luckily by the time it was processed I had the money back in my account and had talked to my bank before I tried to blindly use my debit card to buy something with 0 dollars.
  • Liv I love your kitchen! I love that color too. We're beginning to think about paint colors for the new house and it's so overwhelming. We're leaving the kitchen for now until we decide to renovate it. I actually like the dining room living room color. My main concern is the color for master bedroom and walk in closet room.

RDR: H and I always fly Southwest since Delta totally f'd us over. A1-30 is the first as Jen said above. You'll be fine. And now I want buffalo everything. :)

buddysmom: I'm amazed/jealous about your awesomeness with car salesmen.

Peek: Love the idea of the purple table.

Liv: I like that color. . .very warm and inviting.

H's younger brother and his family are in town. We're to see them tonight at the ILs. I'm excited to see them, and not excited to see them. There will also be a big family shindig on Sunday with his older brother's family.

I'm also hoping we get to the movies again. We saw Lincoln last week and we're hopefully seeing Silver Linings Playbook, which is FINALLY showing here.

Monday, like Danser, I'm itching to go to a mall and do some shopping!

  • I helped paint a friend's living room last weekend. I am NOT looking forward to picking colors and painting my house. Not one bit.

EXCELLENT movie! I absolutely LOVED it. What did you think of Lincoln? My aunt and cousin hated it but my BFF loved it. FI and I just saw Zero Dark Thirty the other night and I really, really liked that.

[QUOTE]In Response to Re: Happy Friday!!!! : My H just shared the #s he found on kbb.com for my trade in car :) Yea, commission sucks.

Also look online for the price of the new car as well. Trade ins are a b-tch because the ball is in their court for the trade in. I would've flipped if they locked my bank account. I would've asked for $1000 off the price of the car for his screw up.

When you call for prices, dealerships know what you're up to. It's just getting the best price even if you have to drive out a little way. Just remember with big purchases, never pay full price!
