Moms and Maids

What did you give your bridemaids as gifts?

I'm on board with getting them each something that suits their tastes and have read the other posts about gifts, but I want to know specifically what brides have given to their BMs as gifts.  Please share!  (Or if you were a BM and got a gift you loved, share that too!)

I've gotten different things from the wedding industry standard tote, jewelry to gift cards, scrapbooks.

I personally loved getting something that suited my individual taste because 1.) I will use it 2.) the Bride really thought about me as an individual 3.) I love buying things I love if its a gift card.

The worst thing I got was the tote basically because it broke the 2nd month I had it (didn't know my wallet and make up weight that much, lol).

The best was the gift card to my favorite craft store and a personal scrapbook my friend made with some pictures that I didn't have before.

I also love reading personal notes from my friends and family (and I keep them) because it really makes me happy to know how much I mean to them.

    Gifts are in my bio.
This is a neglected planning bio.
This is a belated married bio, with no reviews yet because I'm lazy.

Sometimes I feel like people think that brides are delicate little flower princesses who get all dressed up and pretty for one special moment of their dreams, when really they're just normal people who just happen to be getting married. Things shouldn't have to be sugar-coated for grown-ass women. -mstar284

Shop for them like it is their birthday or Chrismtas. What are their hobbies and interests? Go from there.

Got my BMs personalized totes and am filling them with some gifts that are the same and some that aren't. The theme of the gift is "cozy night in". Each tote was designed with the BM in mind. For example, one really likes Jane Austen, so her tote has a Jane Austen book cover pic on it. I will also get her a copy of a cute book on the Austen era that I know she'll love. All of the girls are getting some spa gifts and lotion candles (I know that 2 of them were drooling over them on a shopping trip). They are also getting pashminas and probably some gift cards or other personalized items. I will also include a bottle of their favorite wine or liquor-- one really likes sangria, another UV blue, etc.

I am getting each of them engraved picture frames with their names, my wedding date and "bridesmaid" or "matron of honor" on it so they can all have a pic of me and them in it. I am buying them all different frames to match their house decor and having them engraved at Things Remembered.

Also, I am getting each of them something different to fit their personalities. One of my bridesmaids is a song writer so I got her a necklace with a blinged out guitar on it. Another bridesmaid is huge into art so I got her a gift card of a popular art website where she buys most of her products from.

Lastly, I bought theit jewelry that they will wear on the wedding day (although this is not considered a gift because it is part of them "uniform").

I have bought my brides maids hand woven shawls that match their different dresses to wear at the wedding. They are each a different color and they can be worn after the wedding as scarves.

I got my bridesmaids clutches from Coach. In my mind and with my friends its something that every girl would use/ enjoy. Every so often Coach sends out 25% off coupons so I just waited for one of those and got them all at once. Each one is different.

I'm getting/making Scarlet Lime bead art watches, each in their favorite colors. Then I'm thinking about Scentsy warmers and scents and a bottle of something they like to drink.

I got mine Coach wristlets (the sequin ones in black), Vera Wang 'Princess' rollerball perfume, and my fave lip gloss from Bath and Body Works. Along with those things, I got my MOH something extra special - a Tiffany's necklace - which I presented to her after my bridal shower that she had put on.

I'm getting married in 3 weeks and got my girls cashmere scarves with their initials embroidered on them along with jewelry for the wedding I purchased thru Lia Sophia.  Both are things I know they will all be able to use again, since the scarves are perfect for winter and ivory & black and the jewlery is fun & funky to suit each of their personalities.

I bought my girls wraps that match my girls dresses and I am embroidering their names on them.  I also bought them initial necklace sets that have matching stud earrings.  As well I am making bracelets and necklaces that match the girls personalities.

Miche bags.  One bag for each girl and  two shells in a style that suit the person I'm buying them for.  That way the gifts are personal and thoughtful but no one feels like they didn't get something thats on the level with everyone else. I always go by the 'if I'd want it for me it is a good gift for someone else' theory. I REALLY want one!

I actually decided to pay for half of the bridesmaid's dresses, the shoes, and their hair and nails. As a bm in the past, I've found that some of those expenses can break the bank so I explained to my bm that I would rather make their expenses less as they go than buy them a large gift. With that said, I'm also giving them sterling silver necklaces with their intial engraved. I think it's all about what they would like and appreciate and it's different for everyone.

One of my maids is in an especially troubling financial situation. I spoke with each individually and gave the girls the option of me paying for a portion of their expenses or a gift. All of them chose gift, but I think its nice to take into consideration all of the circumstances your girls are facing. Had any of the BMs chosen the first option, I would have simply given BMs personalized gifts in private, so that no one else need know I aided the other gal(s). I still probably would have done something generic (but nice!) for all of them so I'd have something to hand out at the luncheon/shower.

I am getting my girls personalized jewelry rolls (found on etsy, made by CraftyStitches).  My friends travel a lot, and any way to keep their jewelry out of a plastic bag works well.  :)  The colors are personalized, as is their initial on each roll.

I bought my bridesmaids' shoes for them. I wanted them all to match, and I know that the extra cost on top of the dress and hotel room and whatever other costs that weekend can add up quickly, so I thought it'd be a nice gesture. Also, I got them a necklace with their first initial on it from this website. Both items can be worn after the wedding as well.

I bought my BMs their wedding day jewelry, but to that gift I also added a very cool earring and necklace set that I found on Etsy and a jewelry tree. Everything is going into a tote personalized with their first initial.

Caseyandsalley, so glad to see that someone else is wearing boots! I'm getting either red or white cowgirl boots. ( : We're getting married outside and I couldn't think of anything that suited my personality more!
