Happy Halloween! We got ourselves a treat! (We got a doggie!)

Hi Ladies!!

Well it didn't take us very long to decide we wanted a new fur baby to join our family. We now have a fish, two cats, and a Australian Shepherd named, Bo. :)

We went to the pound/shelter on Saturday (I have never been to one before) and I thought it was going to be really fun! Turns out I was trying to hold my tears in the entire time. I didn't know if I could go back...and the lines were HUGE.
So I get on petfinder.com again and we found Bo:

The shelter he was at is actualy a boarding kennel- super extra bonus points, because now we can board him on vacations with someone we know he adores! She runs the kennel/doggy day care out of her home and even has horses.

She actually wanted us to take Bo on a walk- which we did. It was lovely- until we ran into a dog without an owner...OFF leash! Oh my goodness. This could have ended badly- but Bo was INCREDIBLE.

He comes pre-trained. He obviously was someone's pet or work dog, but no one came to find him. :( She took out ads everywhere. He LOVES being with people..he'll follow either Andrew around the house all the time- and last night he slept on the floor next to my side of the bed. And right now he's laying at my feet. I wonder if he thinks we are sheep and that he ought to stick with us.

He's so behaved and trained. We went to petsmart and he didn't have ANY problems with other dogs or people- and when he looked like he wanted to mark where another dog marked- a simple pull on the leash would stop the behavior. In fact- the woman who owns the shelter says that if you yell his name- he'll actually drop to the ground.

I wish I knew his story...She found him with cantelope size matts.

He has incredibly unique marbeled eyes. they kinda looks like this:

So without further ado...some pics!

I haz the sheep just where I want them....now I can rest:

I find this man to be quite great:

I'll let you rub my belly:

I don't know why that cat doesn't seem to like me:

Where did the cat's head go, dad?

I'm going to help mom with pumpkins:

And watch TV with dad:

And sit with mom:

I like to think that Bo is pretty happy with this new chapter in his life. However...he does think he needs more attention then this computer machine...and he's probably right. ;) Going outside to play before work now. :)

OH MY GOD LUNAR HE IS SO CUTE!!!! Congrats on the new furbaby. I can't wait to have a doggie =D

Fun fact, the eye coloring that your dog has is called sectoral hypochromia. It's very common in Austrailian shepherds =) Yes, I am a nerd and actually knew that.

Awwww!  Trained furbabies are the best aren't they?!

BF's pit mix was fully trained and super duper sweet already when he got her from a friend who worked at a vet who was supposed to euthanize (sp?) her.

And he IS SUCH a cuddle dog...So I said I was going to go outside and play... Well- we went outside...and apparently he doesn't know that game.

What he really wanted to do was sit on the couch and cuddle. So we watched an episode of Sister Wives....my kinda dog. ;)

Sure- I don't think we have any plans! Sunday? We took Bo off-leash in an enclosed tennis court yesterday. We would run- and when we would stop...he would stop. I'd be interested to see if he would go out and play with Remi by himself or ifhe would insist we run with them too. LOL. I'll be skinny in no time!!

Sunday is perfect! Let me know what time you two are thinking and we'll feed you! Remi loves to chase the ball, so maybe Bo would get into that? It's a HUGE open space with water that they can swim in if it's not too cold and plenty of walking trails...so there should be a lot there to entertain him!

    He is gorgeous Lunar!!

Lunar and Allusive - Have you been to the dog park south of Larkspur off Greenland? Take I25 south to Greenland exit, turn right and you'll curve around (dirt road) to a park. There are horse corrals at the entrance. Turn left in the park and you'll dead in in the dog park parking lot.

OMG it is AWESOME. It's 16+ acres, totally fenced (double fenced on the highway side) and our pup just RUNS forever.

Castle Rock's park is nice. It's much smaller but well-maintained. It's at the fairgrounds.

Allusive - Where is that park? Is it fenced? Our pup is not great off leash yet so we only let her off with a fence.

It's at Chatfield Reservoir State part in Littleton around C-470 & Wadsworth. They are going to be putting in a fence, but they haven't yet. There is an area designated for off leash dogs, but I have no idea how big it is. It is BIG though. There are about 3 ponds/lakes, a river and tons of fields, trees and trails. We take our dog to jog or hike all the time. It's wonderful, but you have to pay to get in if you don't already have a parks pass...and then i think it's an extra $20 for the year to be able to have your dog off leash. It's so big I promise you won't lose your puppy. People there are wonderful and the dogs are all so well behaved.
