    Okay...I'll bite and give you the benefit of not being the 85 year old "hater".

    That poster, Jacky from "Black tie optional" and every other poster that asks questions on here (including me) are <strong>not asking for opinions.</strong>  They are asking for the <strong>rules of etiquette</strong>.   

    What tends to happen is the OP doesn't like the rule and therefore feels it's a personal attack.  they balk, and another person restates the rule.  round and round and round until someone says "i'm atatcked".  It's not personal.  It's not opinion.  It's etiquette.  Black and white rules.  easy peasy and Done deal.   

    Being told not having champagne for everyone wasn't a good choice based on rules didn't make me run off and cry.  It made me look at my budget and look at what is important to me.  They weren't say "cali, we hate you, you stupid POS".   they were saying "etiquette rules indicate that is rude"
