Afternoon Crash

Too much caffine this morning. Then crash! Keep me from falling asleep at my desk?

Topics of interest:
Thoughts on wedding fads?  Photobooths, mixing patterns, alternating colors for bridesmaids, etc... Is it good to go with, or do you think in a year these things will be old news?

Reception dresses in general? Would/Did you have one? Waste of money? Which dress do you consider to be your wedding dress?

How involved is your groom? Do you wish he was less/more involved? Do your ideas and his clash?

Most Favorite Anythings (Actor, color, food, etc)? Why?

  • I can only handle up to 5 questions at a time, so how about I just say hi, huh?

    HI JUXTAPOSITION.

  • Lol, HI! I didn't mean for you to answer all of them... just to talk about something. Don't care if its even related to the questions.
  • I think the "fads" we see on here most people don't see "out there", you know?  I love most of them if they aren't all done together.  I also think they have a little more staying power than one year.

If someone wants to have a reception dress and can afford it then rock on!  Personally, I think it's silly and I didn't have one but whatevs.

Andy was very involved with the whole process.  I very much appreciate all the hard work he put into it i.e., making the invites, creating a google doc to keep track of things, making errands, etc.  He did it because he sort of had to with me being in DC and him where the wedding was but even then a lot of men wouldn't have stepped up.

I love anything and everything Christmas.  I love the cheer it brings and the deeper message of it all.

  • I'm not interested in talking about wedding junk.

What is your deepest, darkest secret? If you don't want to go there, what is something you'd think about making a KPS but not necessarily saying here? Clearly this is meant to prompt you to actually just say it here.

    Things that annoy me:

    Photobooths
    Candy buffets
    most favors

    JMO

oh and when people write things like "I do" on the bottom of their shoes.

Keep in mind, I have never seen most of these things IRL. But they are SO common on the knot that they seem fadish and overdone.

  • Thunderstorms amaze me.  Sometimes FI and I will actually go pretend storm chasing where we just drive around and use his Iphone to try to fine the heart of the storm.  He has never seen a funnel cloud touch (a tornado) and was kind of obsessed with it last spring.  Also, if Jim Halpert were real, I might have to rethink all my decisions in life (jk).

  • Deepest Darkest Secret:  I actually have no idea.... I'll get back to you on that one..... (maybe :)  )
  • Does anyone know why my posts center?

And what is this craziness with cute cat pictures... IBKC... this is INSANE, but in an awesome way.

  • I also hate the jumping wedding pictures.  Actually, I hate any wedding pictures for the most part that look unnatural.  Like, chillin' at a graffitied gas station in your designer gown.  When would you EVER do that?  Jumping is in that category too.

  • I really like the wedding photos in the forest.  I don't think I would stand around in formal wear in the forest in real life either, but I just love trees.... I'm sorry if my unrealism annoys you, but I promise I won't be jumping!
  • I also don't like chucks (at weddings - learn how to dress properly for formal events) or jumping pictures.

I DO like fall (favorite season - that's why I'm getting married in October), purple things, cats, reading, buying shoes and purses, rain storms (too few of those in SoCal), road trip, hikes that don't climb a lot in elevation, and Mexican food.

  • RE: reception dresses.

I was watching "Battle of the Wedding Designers" the other day and Buddha from I <3 NY was on there getting married. They had a $5,000 budget, and they picked the craziest guy who was the loosest with the budget, and they BOTH changed for the reception! If your budget is that tight, then why waste money on two separate wedding outfits? Ridiculous.

Still waiting on your KPP, Jux.
  • Okay still kind of new here.... KPP?

Mery, does this go along with teaching babies how to dress to go in public? <img src="http://cdn.cl9.vanillaforums.com/downloaded/ver1.0/content/scripts/tinymce/plugins/emotions/images/smiley-wink.gif" border="0" alt="Wink" title="Wink" />
  • My H wore chucks because he broke both knees a couple years before our wedding and there was no way he could wear tux shoes all night long.  So we got him some cool chucks to wear just for the reception, after the main pictures were all done.  He liked 'em.

I like photobooths and wish we would have had one.  I think reception dresses are a waste of money.

  • Knot Post Public, instead of Knot Post Secret.
  • I really liked photobooths when I helped a friend plan her wedding, but that was about 2-3 years ago... now that they have become so popular I am doubting the idea, and think I'll change my mind.

KPP.... I'm assuming that is like a secret I'm not afraid to tell based on your earlier post.... so.... I had sex on a Ferris Wheel with FI back in high school.  We were idiots, but it is still a very fond memory.
  • The jumping pics look prommy to me. I see a lot of prom groups do it also.

  • I really dislike the cupcake fad, and cannot understand it.  I get that its probably a little bit cheaper, but I can't imagine it to be much cheaper than having a two tier cake with sheet cakes in the back. I want a real wedding cake.
