Long Time No See

I haven't been in forever.  At least, it feels like forever.  I think it's more like a couple weeks, but long enough that there are lots of new usernames I don't recognize.

So what's new, guys?  Get me up to speed.

Good gracious, I've missed you <3

Not a whole lot is new with me. . . another year older as of yesterday. Probably not another year wiser. I've been working out like a crazy fool and finally changing my name to my married name. Not a fun adventure. Looking forward to spring - it is colder than necessary out today.

    What's new with you, hoar?

    I've missed you!

I had my shower and bachelorette party (part 1) on Saturday. It was one of the best days of my whole life.

I'm currently sick. I blame FI. He's been sick for a couple weeks now and I finally bugged him enough to go to the doctor yesterday who gave him antibiotics. He passed the illness on to me and I'm not happy about it Cry

This much, at least, I already knew.  You look fantastic, Mrs. K.

There's not a whole lot new here.  Work has been crazy, and yesterday H and I found out that we'll be moving this summer for his 3rd year rotations.  I'm excited for that!

Ugh.  I'm sick, too.  I've had a sore throat, runny nose, and low grade fever for a couple days now.  Not the worst I've ever felt, but I do want it to go away.

    I have a FI now.  That's about 1.5 weeks old :)

I'm sorry you guys are all sick - take it easy and get better!

Oh, and we had a mouse in our attic.  I hope/think it's dead now.  I'm not a big fan of the guy - he was loud!  Obviously my first bit of news was more exciting.

That's a really odd shadow behind my ring, but that's okay :)

Anyway, this is in a thread down there somewhere, but...the basic story is we went out to dinner (I thought it was for vday, but apparently it wasn't!) and walked along the dock outside the restaurant since we got there at like 4:50 PM and that was a little on the early side even for the early bird special!  I was all being distracted looking for sweet turtles and birds and stuff and BF (at the time) gave me this box he made.  And I was like "hm, okay."  Then he got on one knee and asked and I said yes!  And now I have a sweet ring box to put my ring to bed in at night.  Oh, and I have a FI.  Also sweet :)

So far all I have planned for the wedding is most of the guest list - his side of the family is abnormally large in the 2nd cousin stage of things and we're inviting ALL my 2nd cousins and trying to negotiate with his grandma to see which cousins wouldn't be offended if we didn't invite them.  And then after we figure that out, we'll go reception/ceremony venue hunting.  Should be fun :)  I make it sound like a business transaction, haha.

Haha I'm meeting up with the parents this weekend to discuss which family members and family friends must be on the list also. Hopefully my parent's perspective helps because this has proven to be harder than I thought. The FI is doing the same with his parents (who are divorced and remarried) so all the people coming from his side is twice as many as mine.

nice, my sister just got married so my parents (luckily) already basically had our list.  Just editted it slightly cause my sister got married in a different state than I will be getting married in, haha.

Elllllle, I missed your face :)  You were always saving people from HP disasters!  But um, I didn't like A Casual Vacancy and I'm sad.

    Danser,

I just wasn't into the characters.  They were all flawed (which is normally fine) but it wasn't very believable.  It was supposed to be all small town politics and I think the political nonsense ruined it for me.  I'd rather just hear the story of one of the character's lives.  Like Krystal or Fats - they were pretty interesting, but I could have done with just their story and not the rest of the mumbo jumbo.  It was one of those books I forced myself to finish because I had paid for it...I may give it another shot one of these days, but it was eh for me.

Now I'm reading The Book Thief, and I like it a lot more :)

I liked it ok.  I definitely didn't love it.

I just kind of felt like it tried to tackle too many big issues (politics, suicide, drug addiction, class warfare, rape, infidelity... the list goes on and on).  You can do that when you have a seven book series to work with... not so much within the confines of one novel.  So while I liked a lot of the plot lines as they unfolded, they weren't developed fully enough for my taste and I was left at the end feeling kind of like "....and?"

    So yeah, I get it.
