Repeats!

What is one meal that you love SO MUCH (breakfast, lunch, or dinner) that you make it all the time, and enjoy it the same amount every time you eat it?

Re: Repeats!

  • My family's secret recipe for Dirt Pudding (not using choc pudding).

The cheapo hamburger helper box of chicken fried rice.

    Fresh home made ceasar salads.

    Rum and coke.
  • French toast! Love it make the same amount all the time. I have it down to how much milk and how many eggs to mix.
  • My sloppy joe shepherd's pie. In fact, I'm reheating some for tonight in a bit.

I also have a cheesy chicken casserole that almost always turns out right. It's a WW recipe, but I improvise and don't really follow a recipe anymore.

J won't eat them, of course. They both contain "unidentifiables" - i.e., small vegetables. Silly man.

I also make my version of Chilaquiles. I can eat it everyday but it takes a while to make.

    Edit:
  • i guess I'm still a child at heart because it is grilled cheese all the way. Sometimes with bacon sometimes without, either way I'm happy.
  • Oh, and I make a rockin' poptart.

I do make pretty good waffles, but not very often.

Lunches - usually leftovers, J takes me to lunch, or I eat a muscle milk protein bar.

  • Fi has a white chili recipe that is so good every single time.  We just finished off a batch.  Also:

A lemon chicken rice soup that fi got from a friend - awesome and easy.

A summer fruit pie that is amazing.  Kind of complicated to make, but worth it.

My two ultimate favourite dinners that my husband is SO sick of, but I love is:

    - pork chops cooked with this stewed tomatoe/pepper mix my mom makes. I have it atleast once a week. I only have two.5 jars of it left though so I have to start conserving.

    - browned porkchops with mushroom soup to make a sauce. Served with rice. omg.
  • Let's see...

One is chicken paella, with ham and peppers and peas.

Another is beef cooked slowly inside the oven in tomatoes and wine, served over rice.

Another is our Black Russian bundt cake, with vodka and Kahlua, which will be our wedding cake.

And then there are things with potatoes, especially mashed potatoes and then my homemade baked steak fries.

Ooh, and steak. But I think the steak's deliciousness is due to its own awesomeness, rather than my ability to transform it.

  • Chicken and dressing. It's unbelievably amazing every time. And tuna noodle casserole, but the grown up version.

In the summer I eat this cauliflower salad - its cauliflower in little bits, cut up tomatoe, cucumber, red onion, with salt and pepper and ranch dressing. If you let it sit out the dressing waters down quite a bite and its freaking delicious. I make it twice a week.
  • Steak. Medium rare, Delmonico cut, the way my grandma makes it. I love me some meat.
  • I could eat wontons and fried rice until I explode. No joke.

  • We are suckers for indian curry (vegetarians), one called jonpur lentils, another called navratan (both yellow curries), mmmm with homemade naan (indian flatbread). Sooo good. We eat it at least once a week.

  • That salad sounds pretty good, Nebb - I wish I could eat raw cauliflower still. It and broccoli are the devil for me.

You didn't say dessert, but - just for Nebb, yes - I make a kickass French Silk Pie. Sometimes I even make homemade whipped cream to top it.

  • Grilled Filet Mignon w/ sauteed mushrooms.  (we have a butcher shop down the street where we can get filet for $5-$6 a lb - you buy the whole filet and they cut it to your specifications.  We usually get the steaks cut 1 1/2 inches thick)  When we do buy it, we eat steak for a week straight.
Holy Crap. We survived the first year!

    Yum! I want!

I would eat Mexican/Tex-Mex food 8 times a day if I could. Any of it. Nachos, burritos, quesadillas, tacos. Especially guacamole. And fresh, hot chips.

  • My mother's chocolate peanut butter cupcakes, her linzer tarts and her chicken francaise and her chicken soup. BF's mom's empanadas. My uncle's green sauce.
  • Burrito with pinto beans, monterey jack cheese, and a wheat tortilla. Nothing else, baby :)

I get them from a little place in San Francisco, but until we move there in two months (gahhh), I make do with a frozen variety.
  • Hawaiian Bread Dressing is a must have around here in the fall.  My parents will usually call and invite us to dinner at their house...as long as I make the dressing.

Also, Asian pork chops that I make in the crock pot.  I could honestly eat them about 3 times a week.

It's Heaven!!  I wanted a new twist on stuffing for Thanksgiving a few years ago, so I found a recipe that used Hawaiian bread (fresh instead of stale) and butternut squash.  I've tweaked it a little, added sausage and some bell peppers.  I also make a maple syrup light glaze that I brush on just before it finishes baking so it's got a little extra sweet crunch on the top. I've passed the recipe around to several people and it's a big hit.  If you are interested, I am more than happy to share

  • I make chicken flautas, with homemade corn tortillas, served with homemade mango salsa.  The.  Best.
I grill the chicken, then shred it with a fork.  Then I let it cook for a couple hours with sauteed onions and garlic, stewed tomatoes, chopped jalapenos, chili powder, and cumin.  I wrap them in the homemade corn tortillas, stick a couple toothpicks through them, brown them in a skillet, top them with some shredded cheese, and serve with the mango salsa.
