So I saw this and fell in love, all our paper is bird themed, so i thought this fit. I was thinking of getting the engraving on the inside and keeping it open, what do you guys think??

    CUTE! I would just message them and ask them to cut a slit in there for the cards to go in.

    ETA- And put a lock on it.

    First off I don't think the box/ birdcage is all that traditional.  My mom had a bag and went around to the tables and people gave her cards.   Plus really does it matter?  

    I think you could have it on the top and have people open it to put the cards in.  I'm just thinking that after the first one goes in you will not be able to see the detail anyway.  UNLESS you put on the underside of the lid.  

    Over all I like it and you like it, so go for it.

    I used something similar for our "card box"  I just left it propped open, because I didn't see the need for it to be locked.

    I think it's cute and if you like it, go for it!  People can just open it to put cards in it.

    Ditto B2B, its cute but I would find a way to keep it shut/lock it if at all possible.  Even though you would think it would be fine, my mom's co-worker had some envelopes stolen at her wedding.  If you keep it open, just make sure its in a highly visible place.

    THIS... And I also would be concerned about it not being locked. But that might just be me being somewhat paranoid/ overly cautious. But I like the engraving a lot!
