Deodorant?

Just realizing this might be an issue- regular deodorant usually works just fine for me, but for some reason, when I wear tank tops or strapless things it doesn't. On a hot day, within 3-4 hrs, I'm stanky. Of course we're doing the first look 3 hrs before the ceremony, so I'm afraid I'll be good and ripe by ceremony time. Ick.I am guessing it's more skin-on-skin and the deodorant rubs off, or the sweat doesn't wick away into the sleeve like it would w/ even a short sleeve? Has anyone else encountered this? I've seen the clinical strength type deodorants, including some you're supposed to put on the day before. Any input?

And if you use the clinical stuff you put on the day before, (sorry, dumb) doesn't it just come off when you shower in the AM?

Re: Deodorant?

  • I bought some Dove Clinical strength for the reasons you've listed.

You put it on the night before in order for it to absorb - it's an over-time sort of deal. You can use normal deodorant in the morning again, or you can use more clinical strength.

It seemed to work well the one time I experimented, but I am planning to shower the night before the wedding, put on the clinical strength deodorant, and then put some more on in the morning (not shower again - which was recommended by the hairdresser).

  • I have been using clinical strength deoderant for years - I used to sweat through shirts all the time even in not so hot weather.

In order for it to work effectivly it is best to use it for a week prior to the wedding, not just the day of.  It  has done amazing stuff for me but you do need to use it for about a week in order for it to really impact.

  • Secret clinical is amazing. I only have to use it every two days even though I shower everyday and go to the gym. Like others said, start using it atleast a week before but its awesome.
  • I use CertainDri and regular.  The CertainDri keeps you from over sweating (I have problems with really bad sweat stains in the summer), and regular stuff in the morning.  I use the CertainDri at night and regular in the morning.  Not sure if it will help with the "stank", but it might be worth a try if other suggestions don't work.  Good luck!
  • I use either Degree Clinical or Secret Clinical.  I've never tried just using every two days or whatever so I can't say if it works.  I usually shower in the evening, put some on and then I put a little bit more on in the morning when I get dressed (usually before I do my makeup so it has time to absorb before I get dressed).  It not only works well for the odour but it keeps me pretty dry as well.

  • Use CertainDri for a couple weeks leading up to the wedding. It works wonders.

Secret clinical worked great for me on the wedding day. I've also heard of people just wiping down with baby wipes if they feel the need. I actually wish I'd thought of that for the wedding, because it was 95 degrees and I was a sweaty mess.
  • Ok, I can report that after 2 days of Secret Clinical before bed, plus the rock salt crystal deodorant when I get up (applying that after my am shower) (that's a tip I read elsewhere, the salt makes it inhospitable for the bacteria that make the stinks, so I'm combining it w/ the Secret to ease up the sweat), wearing tank tops around the house, plus heavy shifts at work, I am feeling the looove! And it's been high 90s, and we don't have central air, just weak, weak window units. Luckily fi's away for work this week, so he doesn't have to watch me continuously sniffing my armpits to see if it's still working. ;)

  • If your doing a first look do you have a few minuted between those photos and the ceremony that you can take a quick wipe with a baby wipe or fresh cloth then re-apply the antiperspirant? I do that when we are at functions where it is a hot and sweaty day.  Keeps me feeling cleaner.
