Hiccups

I went to the dentist today for a root canal. I have had the hiccups ever since I left. I'm miserable. My mouth is numb and I can't stop hiccupping.

This was my 5th dentist appointment in like 2 weeks. I still have a few more to go and hopefully I will have a new beautiful smile for this wedding!

Bring on the extra strength pain killers and my bed for the night!

    100% Hiccup cure:

one glass of water with a straw
    two fingers (on different hands)

-take fingers and press the little nub above your ear lobeinto your ear (to block the ear)
-drink several gulps through the straw

    Voila!

(PS This might be hard to accomplish if your mouth is numb, but it's worth a try!)

Yikes! I've seen people eat a spoonful of hot sauce to cure hiccups.

    Hope you feel better ASAP!

My parents overheard this remedy in an Emergency Room and have used it ever since-

It's an old bartenders trick- Take a slice of lemon. Splash it thoroughly with bitters or worchestire sauce. Bite down into the lemon. Works every single time.

This, but if you can get some assistance having someone hold your nose too really helps!

I love these Hiccup ideas! I have no really good advice except Vicodin is your friend. And I am sorry your mouth hurts!

I know that the drink a cup of water upside down is supposed to be a joke... but... it actually works! Here's what you do. Take a sip of water and put it in your mouth. Stand up with your head between your legs. And swallow. Do this a few times. It works.

I also do the glass of water upside down (with my head between my legs), or a spoon of sugar-don't let it dissolve at all, just swallow it as quickly as you can. For now, since your mouth is numb try an ice cube on your forehead-you'll probably have to get someone to hold it for you, because it hurts-for like two minutes. Or, take a deep breath and swallow as many times as you can without letting out any of the air.

Or, you know, you could just take some painkillers as go to bed-that works too! Hope you feel better soon.

I do the opposite side of the glass with my head between my legs, or the deep breath and swallow a bunch of times things. Both work.

But just slowly drinking a big glass of water works for me too, and that might be simplest in your current numb condition.

Hope the pain passes fast! It will be worth it to have a healthy mouth and pretty smile!

thanks for all the suggestions! I took a big gulp of water with the vicodin and the hiccups went away! Now I'm going to go to bed and watch movies. It is miserably hot here today.

    Hehe.

It's freaking raining here, which matched my crappy mood. So that's okay, I guess.

BF does this thing his mom taught him to cure my hiccups, i get them a lot.

He makes me chug a glass of water without stopping, meanwhile he stands behind me and pulls my earlobes towards my front. The opening of the ear canal combined with swallowing is supposed to relieve pressure or something... i'm not sure on the exact science

    it really works though

[QUOTE]Poor you! I second (or third) drinking water upside down. I personally do it where I put my head between my legs and drink from the opposite side of the glass. Probably not the most graceful way to do it, but I've been doing it since I was tiny and it works every time. I hear you on the pain, though. I got the hiccups after I got my tonsils out a few years back and I thought I was going to die from the pain, and I have a very high tolerance. Feel better!!

This! I get hiccups CONSTANTLY. My previous boss used to tease me that I was the office drunk - only funny because I rarely do drink. haha. Anyway, this is the only method that I've ever found to work...and it's not eating something disgusting or completely stupid looking.
