Colors..

I dont know if im in the right board or not but I need help with colors.. Im getting married on 10-11-12 and i am having the most awful time coming up with some colors. Its a fall wedding so I was thinking of doing a wine color with like a burnt orange and a deep red..what do you think? Like the BM would have wine color dresses and then have the flowers be burnt orange and a deep red.

Re: Colors..

  • My sister got married in late Sept. and her colors were chocolate brown with deep reds and oranges. We all wore chocolate BM dresses and carried circus roses. Your ideas sound lovely. When doing a fall theme, it is really easy for it to look tacky in my opinion, so make sure you stick with deep, rich colors... possibly with some jewel tones.
  • I think your choices would be beautiful for a fall wedding.

  • That sounds like a great choice!  We were married in October and chose red as our primary color with burnt orange and chocolate brown as accent colors.  I have always loved fall colors and the season itself so this was an easy choice for me.

Not to throw a loop at you, but you could pick hot pink and turquoise (or whatever else you can think of) if you wanted and that would be perfectly fine.  Just make sure that you are picking colors because you really want them, not because of the season.  It just crossed my mind that maybe this was a hard decision because you feel forced to choose from within a traditional fall palette.  good luck!

  • I love the idea of a REALLY deep red. If you're going for traditional I would add a honey or tan and leave the red as the big splash of color, but for a more modern look I agree with turquoise or some other really shocking color. Just another idea...Maybe red and a metallic. like a pewter or bronze.
  • It sounds nice!  I got married last year and used dark brown and orange (along with pink) for my colors.
  • Those colors sound really pretty.  I'm getting married in October and in the beginning was thinking about only Fall colors, but you can do anything you want.  I decided on teal and purple.  The teal is more blue than green and it's a deep, rich shade.  Have fun with it. Think about your favorite colors, or if you're going for a theme it might lead you to color choices.  I personally like gem tones for Fall.  Oh, my ister in law was married last September and her colors were coral, mint, and pewter.
Another suggestion is looking at the flowers available in he Fall to get color ideas.
