How did you go about choosing har/makeup artist? Did you look into more than one ? Did you book them without doing a trial first ? Just not sure how to go about this( picking one). Im looking for them to come to me, good price, dependable ....

I kinda coped out and went to my normal stylist. She's been doing my hair for a long time and I didn't see a reason to go to anyone else.

I did, however, do a trial with her first before I booked her.

I chose who normally does my hair. While she did my haircut and color close to the wedding she did a trial. I ended up with two trials because she wanted to them.

For make-up, I used to work at Ulta and had a lady there do it, though the woman who was supposed to do it couldn't last minute. I had a trial with her and everything. She had a make-up artist from Ulta call out and do my make up.
It was very stressful that morning, but it worked out in the end.

Oh, I forgot to answer about make-up. I used some lady that my mom went to the gym with. I ended up fixing my make-up in the bathroom before the ceremony.

I'm no help. I didn't want to deal with it so I just told my sister to book somewhere the hold bridal party could go.

I just booked off the recommendations off here/who out of those was cheapest and responded fastest really. They are both holding the date for me until its closer to the wedding/I have a trial. I am not from around here and dont have a normal stylist so I just trusted the ladies here, my gut, and the correspondence with the actual people. HTH!

I am going to go with my normal hair stylist, shes been doing my hair cut color special occasions for years, I see no reason to take a chance now

I have a makeup artisit I use for special occasions as well, as you can guess thats who I will be using!

I contacted Meghan Cahill and will be doing a trial in August to make sure I like her. I will most likely do another trial closer to the date. To me it is worth the 2 trials to make sure I will like her. And I figure if in August I don't like her I have plenty of time to find someone else.

I should say my mom is my regular hairdresser, but she has the day off on my wedding day

As for make-up I have some recommendations given by different people. I found all of the common recommendations on here way too expensive. I probably will do trials with all of the different people before deciding.

I went with recs from this board that I thought were reasonably priced and had trials with each. I was extremely pleased and would highly recommend both.

I used Meghan Cahill as she was highly recommended from many knotties as was Cindy Singer. I wanted someone who could travel to my parents house, so we could get ready there. I had 10 BMs, myself and my mom to get ready in the AM so I needed someone who was fast. Cindy was booked that day so I got one of her assitants. I was not 100% happy with the woman I was given, but I was in my bf's wedding and she use Cindy Singer and Casey did our makeup, it was FABULOUS! :0)
