hymn?

If you are doing a hymn, which one are you doing?

The church we are getting married at (my church meets in a non-traditional setting, so I had to find a church w/ a sanctuary for my wedding) says we are only allowed hymns (contemporary praise songs may be used if we get the "OK" first).

I'm stuck - I love hymns, but I'm not sure which one I want! (and FI is used to praise, so he doesn't have much say on actual hymns)

I was thinking about just having the congregation sing The Doxology right after the Processional, but we just went to a friend's wedding where they sang two worship songs right after the Gospel Message & Unity Candle, and FI and I loved it...so now we're looking for songs, too. I did find "O Perfect Love" by Dorothy Gurney in the back of our hymnal at church. It was written for a wedding.

Exactly...like I said, I found it in the back of the hymnal...I've never actually heard it "live" before...so maybe we'll have our ceremony musicians sing it, and then have the congregation do a well-known song...but I have no clue what that should be. Sorry that I'm no help...just trying to figure out the same thing...

I love "Great is Thy Faithfulness" and would have probably had that but my sister did it and we ended up not having the congregation sing. The reason I love it is that it says, "All I have needed thy hand hath provided, Great is Thy faithfulness, Lord unto me".

We aren't actually singing any as a congregation- though it is a church wedding, the majority of our guests do not profess to be believers. But our viloinst is playing "Come Thou Fount," "Great Is Thy Faithfulness" and also "Fairest Lord Jesus" during the prelude.

I also love "Joyful, Joyful We Adore Thee" and "Great Is The Lord, The Almighty".

I love hymns too! the contemporary/moden praise and worship songs are great but those hymns just stir your soul. The songs that were suggested earlier are good choices. I also like "The Love of God"
