Directions cards-- From where to hotel?

So we are DIY-ing our invites, including the direction cards.  I know to do straight to the venue.  However, we are confused on the hotel.  Is it directions from venue to hotel, or as if they are coming straight to hotel.  Our ceremony is at 11am, and the "after party" is going to be at the hotel later that night.

    We gave directions from the major interstate in our city, and then from one main road used in town to each even and location. People can usually find their way to a main road/highway and go from there.

    From the hotel to the ceremony venue.

    Then if you have programs, you have directions from the ceremony venue to the reception venue on that.

    Hopefully people can figure out how to get back to hotel from the reception - but I will say that with smart phones, google maps and GPS, I don't think a directions card is necessary at all.
