atlantic city

anyone have any recommendations/stories for a wedding in atlantic city?  i'm in the early early stage of planning and thought AC would be a good idea --easy for guests to get to & don't have to worry too much about accommodations.  plus most of my friends/families are gamblers.

i know i have to worry about guests venturing out to the "wrong" side of the tracks and that it could potentially be cheesy/tacky but as i said, it's early in the game and i'm just exploring.

my wedding will be at the Sheraton in Atlantic City Convention center...which is right there in the heart of the city, where the shopping and casinos are.  I absolutely LOVE the place and Tara is a dream to work with.

I also looked at the Chelsea (my parents were married there, when it was a different hotel) and it was also very nice, but was close to venturing towards the wrong side of AC.

The casinos do events, but will probably be pretty pricey and I've heard not to do weddings with them, but totally you're choice.

There are also a lot of venues located in the Galloway/Absecon area, which are only like a 6 minute drive to the city and have trains going often.  Something to think about!

I don't know what your budget is, but The Pier at Caesars has a new wedding venue called One Atlantic:

I wouldnt worry too much about people wandering into bad places.  If they stay in/around the casino/hotels they should be fine.  Stay off the boardwalk really late, and try to take a taxi or jitney to get around if not driving your own car.

Take the season into consideration because it will be much more expesive for accommodations in the summer months.
