Replica wedding dress

I'm on a  tight budget for my wedding, I wanner keep my wedding dress under $300, so I think the best bet for me is go to a replica route.

After searching online, I found some gorgeous styles as following:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/New-white-ivory-wedding-dress-custom-size-2-4-6-8-10-12-14-16-18-20-22-/220965907519?pt=Wedding_Dresses&var=&hash=item79169ff3ad ( $149.99 )

http://www.outerinner.com/sleeveless-strapless-trumpet-mermaid-court-train-wedding-gowns-pd-06501-13.html ( $189 )

http://www.dhgate.com/sexy-close-fitting-short-sleeve-lace-wedding/p-ff80808130e5a325013122ea6e892c4b.html ($160.99)

Which one do you ladies think it's more beautiful? Or any other recommendations?

Re: Replica wedding dress

  • All I can say is. Don't do it. If your budget is tight now. Think how tight it will be when you have to buy another dress. There are sooooo many horror stories of folks buying dresses from these chinese knockoff sites. The fabric is usually awful. The dress doesn't look anything like the photo. And the sizing is way off. Go to davids bridal for their 99 dress sale. They have quite a few dresses under 300.
  • I agree with PP's.

And the first thing you need to do is go try on dresses before you make any decisions. What you see online may not look like that on your body type. Some girls are surprised at what dress they end up with.

THEN try looking at Pearls Place or one of the Wedding Classifieds sites. But, stay away from the Chinese sites.

    What everyone else said.

Go to bridal boutiques and see what they have - I was really suprised at how many samples were $100-$200.  Some really gorgeous dresses and the only thing "wrong" with them is that people had been trying them on.  You'd maybe need to get them cleaned.

ETA:  Also, did you know JC Penney sells wedding dresses online?  I didn't before I got started and their prices are amazing.
  • I'd be super hesitant to buy a replica dress.  I've heard Costco sometimes has wedding dresses fr great prices.  PP have had good alternatives.

  • Have you checked the classified on here, craigslist, or the places PPs mentioned? You may find what you're looking for there.
To answer your question, I'd go with #1. But just so you know, alterations with a lace dress are REALLY expensive.  Something to think about. And if they do use cheaper lace, cheap lace looks cheap. I really love the first dress though. Good luck!

    [QUOTE]Don't do it!  There are lots of options under $300 that aren't as risky as (likely) sweat shop produced, half ass-ed knock offs. <a href="http://www.davidsbridal.com/Product_Beaded-Lace-Spaghetti-Strap-Gown-M8824_Bridal-Gowns-Features-All-Gowns" rel="nofollow">http://www.davidsbridal.com/Product_Beaded-Lace-Spaghetti-Strap-Gown-M8824_Bridal-Gowns-Features-All-Gowns</a> <a href="http://www.davidsbridal.com/Product_Strapless-Ruched-Mermaid-Gown-with-Sash-49177D_Bridal-Gowns-Features-All-Gowns" rel="nofollow">http://www.davidsbridal.com/Product_Strapless-Ruched-Mermaid-Gown-with-Sash-49177D_Bridal-Gowns-Features-All-Gowns</a> <a href="http://www.davidsbridal.com/Product_Strapless-All-Over-Beaded-Lace-Gown-T8722_Bridal-Gowns-Features-All-Gowns" rel="nofollow">http://www.davidsbridal.com/Product_Strapless-All-Over-Beaded-Lace-Gown-T8722_Bridal-Gowns-Features-All-Gowns</a> <a href="http://shop.nordstrom.com/S/js-boutique-pearl-trim-crisscross-matte-jersey-gown/3116816?origin=category" rel="nofollow">http://shop.nordstrom.com/S/js-boutique-pearl-trim-crisscross-matte-jersey-gown/3116816?origin=category</a> <a href="http://shop.nordstrom.com/S/xscape-one-shoulder-embellished-chiffon-gown/3277276?origin=category" rel="nofollow">http://shop.nordstrom.com/S/xscape-one-shoulder-embellished-chiffon-gown/3277276?origin=category</a> <a href="http://shop.nordstrom.com/S/ml-monique-lhuillier-bridesmaids-strapless-chiffon-gown-nordstrom-exclusive/3230678?origin=category" rel="nofollow">http://shop.nordstrom.com/S/ml-monique-lhuillier-bridesmaids-strapless-chiffon-gown-nordstrom-exclusive/3230678?origin=category</a> <a href="http://shop.nordstrom.com/s/adrianna-papell-illusion-bodice-chiffon-mermaid-gown/3166789?origin=related-3166789-8000017-0-1" rel="nofollow">http://shop.nordstrom.com/s/adrianna-papell-illusion-bodice-chiffon-mermaid-gown/3166789?origin=related-3166789-8000017-0-1</a> <a href="http://www.bonton.com/shop/women/dresses-social-occasion/cocktail-dresses/marina-gold-long-pretzel-lace-column-dress_463308.html" rel="nofollow">http://www.bonton.com/shop/women/dresses-social-occasion/cocktail-dresses/marina-gold-long-pretzel-lace-column-dress_463308.html</a> <a href="http://www.bonton.com/shop/juniors/prom-shop/prom-dresses/cachet-strapless-ivory-gold-dress-with-corset-back_484323.html" rel="nofollow">http://www.bonton.com/shop/juniors/prom-shop/prom-dresses/cachet-strapless-ivory-gold-dress-with-corset-back_484323.html</a> <a href="http://www.dillards.com/product/Adrianna-Papell-for-E!-Live-From-the-Red-Carpet-Strapless-Beaded-Gown_301_-1_301_502945826" rel="nofollow">http://www.dillards.com/product/Adrianna-Papell-for-E!-Live-From-the-Red-Carpet-Strapless-Beaded-Gown_301_-1_301_502945826</a> <a href="http://www.dillards.com/product/Betsy-Adam-OneShoulder-Lace-Gown_301_-1_301_503107615" rel="nofollow">http://www.dillards.com/product/Betsy-Adam-OneShoulder-Lace-Gown_301_-1_301_503107615</a> <a href="http://www.dillards.com/product/JS-Collections-Taffeta-Halter-Gown_301_-1_301_502741530" rel="nofollow">http://www.dillards.com/product/JS-Collections-Taffeta-Halter-Gown_301_-1_301_502741530</a>

Yes, I love the 1st best, but just don't know if it will turn out exactly like the pics. Hmmm, I didn't check out all of the sites before, I intially thought most of them are too expensive for me, but now, I'll def. llook into them. Thanks for you all  the heads-up for being away from China stores. I WONT buy from them!

</div><div>If you do decide to go the replica route, I had an amazing experience with BigDayDress.net! I have ordered two dresses from them, my wedding dress and one for the new years eve party we are having two days after the wedding. They have been incredibly helpful and answered my dozens and dozens of questions quickly. They sent me pictures of a replica they had made that was similar to the style I wanted and then also made changes to the dress (I asked them to order a corset under the zipper) without any extra charge! They even worked with me and rushed it so that it would get to me in a month because I am leaving the country in a few weeks for two months!</div><div>
</div><div>Anyway, it was overall a smooth experiecne and despite my fear and anxiety surrounding ordering a dress online, it turned out to be a great decision and I saved over $1200! I'll attach the pictures they just sent to me and then if you guys want I'll add some when I try it on as well. My dress for new years even is alreay posted someone, but I can post those as well if you'd like!</div><div>
</div><div>If you have any questions feel free to ask! Like I said, I will be leaving for Europe in two weeks and won't be back in the US until July, but I'll be more than happy to answer anything before then!</div><div>

<div>Apparently you can borrow the Costco dresses to try on at home, which is something I always think is pretty cool of dress sellers :)  <a href="http://www.costco.com/Service/FeaturePage.aspx?ProductNo=11534639" rel="nofollow">http://www.costco.com/Service/FeaturePage.aspx?ProductNo=11534639</a></div>
