good morning!
it's been quite a morning already, and it's only 8:15.
today is my birthday! DH woke me up to cuddle before I got in the shower. it was very sweet, and a great start for the day (since he usually doesn't get up for 30 min to an hour after I do). I took my shower and while I was in there, he got out a couple gifts and put them out on the dresser so I'd see them when I woke up. it was very sweet! I got a couple texts from my family and close friends, so I was a pretty happy camper.
today at work we're having a potluck, so I had a big bag full of brownies, tongs, wooden spoon, a huge glass bowl (so heavy!), 3 bags of lettuce, and 2 salad dressings (full bottles). I also had my purse, my planner, a notebook, and a cup of coffee in my hand. I could hardly carry everything because it was so heavy and bulky, but I was determined to make it to my desk.
I make it to my desk and put down the cup of coffee. it's around 7:30 or 7:35. I was going to take the groceries to our little kitchen area to put them down so I could get all my things out for work. well, a grumpy old man stops me and asks where my security badge is. since I had so many bags, I hadn't been able to slip it over my head and onto my neck yet. so, I shift my groceries to a hip so I can stand more comfortably, and inform him that I had just walked in the door and my hands were full so I wasn't able to slip it onto my neck yet until I could get rid of these bags. sounds reasonable to me... you could see that I literally had JUST WALKED IN THE FREAKING DOOR, and I had a huge sack of groceries that I was trying to balance on my small, 4'10" body.
his response?
"Sorry. How do you spell you name? I'm reporting you."
ugh. and so all I heard after that was blah, blah, blah.
I'm generally not crude, and I try to be kind to everyone, but all I could think was "eff you."
so I gave him my name, and of course had to spell it since it's latino and no one can ever figure out what I'm saying, shifted the groceries to the other hip, listened to him tell me how it's a federal government base and I need to make sure I have my badge on at all times, etc. now, I know he's right and I probably should have thought ahead a little bit and put the badge on in the car before I loaded up with all my bags. but, it was early in the morning, and I was mostly concerned with how to get everything from my car, across the parking lots, while trying to open all the huge heavy doors, and into the buildings without dropping anything.
so technically, it's my bad. I should have thought ahead, I know. but seriously... it's my birthday. I just walked in the door. I had my arms full of heavy groceries, and I was just trying to put everything down so I wouldn't break anything. it's not like it was half the day and I still didn't have it on. I JUST WALKED IN THE DOOR!! so, eff that. cut me some slack, Mr. Security Guy.
oh, and while you're at it, why couldn't you have helped me with some of the groceries, since it was obvious I was having a hard time holding everything without dropping it??
