Hellooo!

I'm not in the mood for the drama tonight of mom vs. stepmom and the potential for shitstorming to ensue.  Tell me something fun.

Big Brother will be on here in an hour and a half'ish.  I need to get dinner started probably so I can eat and be fully focused before it starts :).

Any big plans for the upcoming week?  H and I are probably going to join a gym tomorrow, and I bought a maternity bathing suit top that should be sturdy enough for me to swim laps in (I have regular bottoms that match enough to get me through) so I'm hoping to get my swim on here soon.

Re: Hellooo!

  • You know my plans for the week.

I'm just waiting for some friends to come over. DH is cooking tonight.  Might as well cook while we can.

What differentiates an average host and a great host is anticipating unexpressed needs and wants of their guests.  Just because the want/need is not expressed, doesn't mean it wouldn't be appreciated.
  • I went to the beach with my mom today.  It was the first time I have been this summer.  It was sooo relaxing that I didn't want to leave.  I kept saying "lets stay a little longer".  Finally around 4:30ish I agreed to go, only because I knew she had to work tomorrow.

I go back to work Wednesday.  I am happy to see some of my friends from work, and to start being productive again, but I like the freedom of vacation and will miss it.
  • Oh Loopy, you called that one.

No big plans for the week, work, working out, and getting ready to enjoy another three day weekend.

    Stay safe Lynda.
  • Hi!

I have loaded our kitchen with enough food for a week, and now I"m making dinner with the goal of having enough for dinner tomorrow, although really the storm shouldn't hit horribly until tomorrow night, so I'll bet I can make a separate dinner for tomorrow and then have leftovers for 2-3 days afterwards.

Of course, if we lose electricity, then I have enough peanut butter and bread for a bunch of meals.
  • Evening ladies!  Classes start here tomorrow so town has been crazy the past few days.  It doesn't help that the grocery store I usually shop at is under construction right now.
  • Sounds like you're pretty ready, Mica!  I hope everything goes ok for you guys down there.

Loopy, being able to swim would be awesome!  I hope it works :)  We can be cross-country swim buddies, ha.

I'm here.  I went to my volunteer job today, then to the grocery store, and then I did some work, and now I'm making dinner.  H is golfing.  He should be home soon so we can eat, and then I have more work to do.  Sorry,, I'm no fun either, ha.

  • Hi!
    I'm here just watching TV.

Loops-What did you think about the double eviction show?
I really wish Ian wouldn't have said anything to Boogie before he left. Do you read any of the blogs? H and I will probably end up watching something else first so that we can skip the commercials.

  • Whenever we have giant snowstorms I just make sure we have water and stuff to make pb & j or pasta (gas stovetop)...because I figure if we lose electricity I am not losing money on throwing food out.

Mica I hope you guys don't lose electricity!
  • Yes J&K - cross country swim buddies sounds great :)

H asked for an hour before we have dinner so he can return something to REI quick.
  • What happened to all the regs?  Is this a boycott or did people really get banned for good after that whole Lucy/Edie fiasco?

Hockey, what grade or subject do you teach?
  • I hope you don't lose power too Mica.

Crash - I thought the double eviction show was great!  I wish Frank wasn't HOH, but oh well. I read Big Brother Dish sometimes.  I'm not sure if I like knowing ahead of time, but I like knowing more than you get to see in just the TV show segments.
  • Most people are over on Proboards.
Mainly because TK started censoring all kinds of stupid words.

  • This is probably a dumb question since I've been here about 2 years (with a diff user name before), but what are the proboards?  Is that over on the Nest?
  • It's another forum site.
I think basically you just make your own board.

My local girls from TN made their own proboard during the format switch. I actually prefer proboards because they have an awesome mobile app so it's easier for me to get on during the day.

  • MrsG: cool!

The proboards are a separate message board (not the nest) not associated with Theknot....just a bunch of people starting their own message board when they became upset over here.

I am really getting tired of the NYU chick.
  • MrsG, bless your heart.  Seriously, not sarcastically.  I deal with a lot of school counselors and school social workers, and I don't envy most of them ;)

  • It seems so strange around here.  It's pretty dead on every board.  I hope people decide to come back.  Now I find myself looking at every board b/c I'm bored.
  • MrsG who were you before?
  • I had my email address as my screen name before.  I changed my SN about 6 months ago.
  • Guys, my favorite coworker is pregnant and due at the end of September.  I want to make them a few freezer meals.  Her H is a picky eater, so I'm not really sure what to make.  I think I'll do a big batch of pulled pork because i know he likes that, and meatballs with homemade marinara, because I've seen her bring spaghetti and meatballs to work, so I know she at least likes it.  I'm not really sure what he does and doesn't eat, and I don't want to ask because I want it to be a surprise (she won't tell me anything if she knows why I'm asking, because she doesn'tw ant anyone to "go out of their way").  Any suggestions?

  • J, thanks.  It really depends on the day as to how my job goes.  I'm very fortunate to work in a pretty wealthy community so I see more "first world" problems.

Mrs. Jesse, sorry about your great uncle.
  • How about lasagna?  Maybe too similar to meatballs?
  • i got a sunburn at the beach today and it is starting to bother me :(

MrsG now I am curious what community you work in hahaha
  • Hockey, I work on the so. shore.  How about you?

J - try www.onceamonthmom.com  They have a ton of freezer meals and a few different menus for varying tastes.  They do a monthly gluten free menu too.  I haven't done any searching there so I'm not sure how easy it is to browse around, but I plan to use some of the recipes once I get a freezer so I can cook less often and stock up when H is home and have ready to go meals when it's just me and Fruit Loop.  Thaw, bake and serve.

    north shore :)
  • I was goingt o stay away from lasagna just because if anyone else brings food, that's a common one, plus I make everything from sscratch (well, except the pasta) so my lasagna is like...a full day undertaking.  Though I will be making the sauce anyway....

I love that site, Loopy!  I've got a ton of stuff bookmarked there for when our freezer comes (WEDNESDAY!!!!) and I can start freezer cooking.

  • I have friends that live in Melrose and Stoneham so I get up there once in a while.  It's funny how no and so shore aren't that far but you tend to stay in your own area.
