Apparently I'm a slacker

I'm lurker but I probably will be more active in the upcoming months.  My wedding is in May and all I've done is pick a venue (deposit made) and ordered a dress.  What should be done next?  Decor, flowers, DJ?  My fiance asked me how the wedding planning was going and I just gave him a blank stare.

Maybe get an idea on your guest number and list? Think of who you want to include in your bridal party. The checklist on The Knot was actually pretty helpful to me...Im somewhat actually trying to follow it and so far its working. Hope this was helpful :)

I'd book my photographer asap because May is a popular wedding month, you want to make sure your date is available.  Same goes for DJ.  If your reception is in a separate location I'd book that first.  Good luck!

I have done a few things.  I picked my bridal party and colors but I don't think I've done anything major.  I'm consulting the checklist on the knot and my fiance is supposed to be contacting a photographer.  I will definitely start looking for a DJ (I didn't realize May was such a popular month).  There are so many details and I feel like my head is starting to spin.  I do have a wedding planner and she's providing her services free of charge (FMIL's bf) and after I meet with her I'm sure I'll have a better idea of what to do.  Here's the dress.

    Welcome Charrison1230!!!

Stick around and we will help you to realize that you are not alone. I agree that the Knot's checklist is great but can feel overwhelming. Print off your checklist along with the deadlines and give a copy to your FI. Instead of him asking you how is everything coming along he should be a partner to you and take on more responsibility.

My FI is wonderful. He knows exactly everything that needs to be done and pushes me when I get off track.

    Happy planning!!

Welcome to the best board on the knot!  You said you picked your bridal party but have you told them?  If not I would say wait to inform them.  I have learned from stories on here and from my own personal experience that friendship change over time.  My own sister dropped from my wedding party.  People can act funny style when they learn you are getting married.  Some from jealousy some cause they want to control your big day.  Choose people who are going to support you and your FI not just on the wedding day but in your marriage as well.

Oh and the check list on here is very helpful.  HTH and Good luck!

I've asked my bridal party and so far everyone has been really supportive.  I asked two of my cousins (who are like my sisters), my bf from college, my bf from law school and my FSIL.

Welcome!  In addtion to getting your photographer, I would say book your florist as soon as you can. Are you sending save-the-dates?  If you are and haven't already ordered, I would do that as soon as possible and send out by November.  That way you give your guests a headsup particularly as May is a graduation month and if you are getting married close to Memorial Day.
