I just got engaged and am staring to look for ceremony sites. We are looking at having the reception at the Grand Palm in Chaska and are looking around there for places to have the ceremony. I am a Catholic and he is a Baptist, neither of us belong to a specific church. We are looking for a place that does not require you to be part of the congregation but does not look like it is just a hall type place. If anyone has any ideas I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks.

P.S. If anyone knows anything about the Grand Palm in Chaska I would love to hear about that also.

You might try posting this on the local board for better feedback.

My one tip though is to talk to the reception venue. Likely they will have some tips for ceremony location as well.

I would also make sure you have a firm grip on the religious element of your wedding. If you are a practicing Catholic and want to have your marriage recognized by the Church, you will most likely need to be married in a Catholic church. Talk to your fi and priest and do some real soul searching on this issue before you make decisions that you are not happy with down the line.

My FI and I aren't religious people. We both believe in God and want a religious overtone to the ceremony, but none of the churches around the reception site we our cup of tea. They either had bizarre policies or were outrageously expensive. We wanted an alternative to a church and we were going to look at the botanical gardens in the area, as well as a historical theater, a museum, the arboretum and a couple of parks. We have a walkthrough at the theater next week. I'm excited because it's my favorite venue so far!

State or local parks can be a great place to host the ceremony. You might also look into venues were you could have the ceremony and reception like a nice hotel. The theater you are looking at sounds like a nice option.
