NWR: Frustrated

I went to the doctor last Monday for the purpose of getting blood drawn for a follow up to bloodwork I had 2 months prior.  The reason being my cholesterol was high, and I wanted to retest to see how it was currently.  I just got my results back, and theres no cholesterol info on it whatsoever... I call the doctor and they said "Oh, we didn't do a cholesterol test, just xyz" ... GREAT.  So I fasted, went to the doctors, got my blood drawn, bruised up my arms (because it took 4 tries for them to find a vein), only to... not do the test I asked for?   So now I need to re-fast and go back in and pay all over again for the appt (and because it's a new year I haven't hit my deductible yet so it's all out of pocket).   Such BS.  I said I shouldn't have to pay, since they didn't do what I asked them to do to begin with... but they're trying to place blame elsewhere.  So annoying.  I am beyond frustrated.

That sucks.  I hate needles like no other so I would be livid.

That is really annoying! You shouldn't have to pay again. Maybe you can call you insurance and explain and they'll credit you for it?

Hey, make sure you check your HDL and LDL numbers and not just the total cholesterol number.  I thought I had high cholesterol for like 2 years until I finally got the doctor to take a closer look at it.  My HDL and LDL were so good, it gave me a high total cholesterol of over 210.

Yuck.  I feel your pain.  On top of the insurance annoyance, my personal hell will involve lots of getting blood drawn.  It's neven a big ordeal for the doctors with my veiny hands/arms, but needles make me faint.  So yeah, good times, especially when I have to fast ahead of time.  I would be grumbling too.

You def need to complain to billing and you insurance.  I'll talk to my mom (she's an RN) and she if she has any suggestions.
Make sure you request not to have that girl draw your blood.

So who's eff up is this?  The doctors office or the lab?

I agree with Bean about calling the insurance company.  Once upon a time when I was still on my parent's insurance, I had to take a very costly test that required hours of having my blood drawn.  A certain popular "diagnostic" company dropped the blood before it could be tested.  My mom called the insurance co and explained how it wasn't our fault, and she didn't get charged for it twice.

    Yuck!!!
    I'd be pissy.
It's not your fault it shouldn't be coming out of your pocket!

I like how no one (doctors or lab) wants to take responsibility...how annoying!
