Rehearsal Dinner Site near Derry?

Hi Ladies,

I'm getting married at Brookstone Park and was planning on having my rehearsal dinner there. However, this morning they annouced that they closed the resturant to make room for expanding into the event business... so I am back to square one! I am looking for a place near Derry to have my rehearsal dinner, any suggestions?

Re: Rehearsal Dinner Site near Derry?

  • That's disappointing, I just sent their information to my FILs for our RD!

Here are the locations I've collected for the area based on past recommendations from the board:

The Black Water Grill, Salem, NH - http://www.theblackwatergrill.com/

The Coach Stop, Londonderry, NH - http://www.coachstopnh.com/

The Common Man Windham, Windham, NH - http://www.thecman.com/restaurants/common-man-windham/

Halligan Tavern, Derry, NH - http://www.halligantavern.com/

Tuscan Kitchen, Salem, NH - http://www.tuscan-kitchen.com/

  • Hi,

A bit OT but I am getting married at Brookstone too (Nov 2012)!  What do you think about the expansion? Are you worried at all about any side effects from the work?

    Thanks!

PS: The Common Man is a great restaurant!

Um... I nearly freaked out! I spoke with Alex today and he told me that there will be no changes to the outside of the building! Which was a huge relief, I pictured it being a war zone! No construction will be going on when weddings are scheduled and luckily for me he said they arent planning to start construction until the fall!

Thanks for all the suggestions!! I will look into all of them!
  • We are going with the Black Water Grill in Salem, NH. My FIL's really like the place so that's what we went with! I've never been there but I've heard good things about it.

  • We'll probably go with The Common Man. We love it and their packages are great.
  • That's good. We're November 3rd and if they aren't starting construction until the fall we could be in trouble (even though they say everything will  be ok) We're meeting him on saturday to discuss.  Not sure if I should try to call some other venues since I haven't finalized too many other details of the wedding...oh the stress!

let me know how your meeting goes! I'm curious if he'll say the same thing or if he just wanted to appease me! because I can't for the life of me figure out why they would close the resturant now and not start construction until the fall.  But if what he's saying about there being no changes to the outside of the building is true then I don't think you'll have to worry because everything will be done inside and guests won't see anything because they won't be going in the part.
  • We're using the Common Man, too!
  • We had our RD at the Atkinson Country Club's restaurant.  It was really yummy.

  • Hey - I met with Alex and everything seems pretty good! I'm glad I took the time to go up and talk to him because I was really nervous. He showed us all the blue prints and took the time to go over them in detail. He says no construction until October but nothing will be done outside no materials will be left outside and everything should be ok! Maybe the construction won't start until after the first weekend in November and then I'd be golden! ;) But yeah we should all be fine.  Oh and he said the reason why they closed the restaurant was b/c these few months are very slow for them anyways and they wanted to start pulling all the building permits.  It seems that the restaurant reception area will be a bit smaller than the ball room as well. Now I have to really start the vendor planning...eek!

    Good luck!
  • I am also getting married at Brookstone.  Yay!  But I am not until October 12 2013.  I can't wait to see how it all comes out.  Hopefully all the construction will be done by then!

  • Brookstone seems really great. Everytime I go there I like it more and more.  I think you'll be good for Oct 2013.  They will be able to have two weddings at a time there though but Alex told me they are going to stagger start times which is good and there is a lot of space between the two rooms as opposed to other places may just have a curtain wall. Good luck!
  • I got nervous over your last post so I sent an email to Alex. He assured me I would be the ONLY bride on our day.  That was a relief.  I do not know when the two wedding thing will start.
