Life thread part 2

Since I missed the thread this morning I'm just going to continue it here

Whit - If you come to DC this summer and don't tell me I will cry, seriously cry, big giant tears. Just try not to come between June 25th and July 7th because I will probably be in Maine and still cry.

Emma - I've decided that making friends in DC is impossible! I've been here for 4 years now and my only friends are a girl I used to work with and one of my college roommates who moved up here. And the dc girls who I don't see nearly enough.

We are buying our house tomorrow and moving in next Sunday! Our 1 year wedding anniversary is also only 2ish weeks away which is unbelievable. We're going to the Winchester Apple Blossom Festival to celebrate (any dc knotties want to go west and come play at the Festival with me? Val Kilmer is going to be the grand marshal )

Re: Life thread part 2

  • It's just from sitting and standing too long.  I come home and nap and feel 95% better after laying down.  I have no idea if it would help, but I only have 6 more days to get through, so I'll suck it up and deal.

  • Ah, I know when our last pregnant teacher hit her maternity leave point she just brought a chair into class and sat on it. No one wanted to yell at the pregnant lady for sitting down on the job.

One of our special ed teachers is 5 months now. Her students are so careful around her and then super crazy to the other teachers. None of them want to hurt the baby, its so precious.
  • Aw, that's cute.  I don't think my kids are too different, although I got up quickly from the piano today and my HS kids were all "slow down!  we don't want the baby falling out!"  lol!

I have been sitting a lot, especially since we had state tests all this week.  But that doesn't seem to help either.  :(  Plus, I have been able to sit more in class since we've been running through our songs and I sit and accompany them on the piano.

Still undecided!  I need to light a fire under B's ass.  However, I think I'm going to try to make letters for the wall in her room since I can't do too much other decorating, so I'll make him make a decision soon.  I'm saving the project for when I start mat leave in 2 weeks.

K - that would be great!

  • Sucrets - I am so excited for you to be on maternity leave :) That will be such a relief for you!! Counting down the days!
  • Meg - OMG I can't wait.  And now I don't feel bad anymore since I've had a miserable week.

  • Never feel bad for taking days you've earned. Now I have more incentive to save mine so I can do the same thing! Luckily my doctor (who I can hopefully use throughout the pregnancy) is open on Saturdays so I won't blow it all on check-ups.
  • Thanks, Meg!

And you're right, Kristi, I shouldn't feel bad.

You'll love this:  I told my HS choir yesterday that most likely next Friday will be my last day because of maternity leave.  The girl in there that is pregnant (and due at the beginning of May) said "I wish kids got maternity leave."

    ?!??????

It took a lot of restraint for me not to tell her that I worked my ass off for TEN YEARS in order to do this and that no one is giving me anything.

    Stupid entitled kids.

  • Sigh...oh kids...

The librarian and I were talking about the budget cuts earlier, and a kid walks up and goes "Well why doesn't the school just do a bake sale or something and raise money so no one loses their jobs?"

ah to be young and naive...

And yeah, how about you contribute to society first and then you get maternity leave, maybe pay taxes or something...

I am happy we're in the Feb stretch of possible due dates now. I really did not want to have a winter baby. I'm terrified I would go into labor in the middle of a huge blizzard or something.
  • Oh yeah, I forgot the 2nd part of her sentence:  "I wish kids got maternity leave b/c I'd be out already."

That's funny about the bake sale!  Kids are so naive sometimes.

So you're in your 2ww?  When is testing day?

  • It would be...27ish. I'm not too hopefully this month because I had my root canal the day I ovulated, and there was definitely no action while I was seeing pretty colors from the Vicodin, but my boobs are ridiculously huge again after shrinking for the last 2 weeks so we'll see.

  • Ok, bedtime for me. See you tomorrow!
  • Night, K!

  • I am always so constantly late to these threads, but going to post anyway with my life update; 4 days until the surprise trip for Nick to Malaysia and I am excited! Also had a very hectic week at work but all is fantastic and I'm feeling really awesome about the direction of my PhD and overall work position, even in the face of a reality of funding ending at the end of the year. Life is good!

and now I've offloaded that to likely no one reading at all, I'm going to prepare for bed- so very exhausted!
