New York Wedding - PITTSBURGH STYLE

Hey ladies, I am originally from the Burgh.  I moved to Manhattan over 10 years ago, but I miss my tahn n'at.  I was lucky enough to marry a HUGE Steelers fan here in NYC and thought I would share with you how it went, in case you are looking for ideas, yinz guys.

The rehearsal dinner - almost everyone wore a Steelers jersey:

Wedding - all our guests had a traditional ("regular") Terrible Towel.  No towels or anything "football" was seen till the very end of the ceremony.  Our ceremony was very traditional and heartfelt.

Right when we were pronounced husband and wife, our guests waved the towels, and then again when we were announced into the reception... our music was the theme to Monday Night Football.  You should have heard the room roar when that music started!

Our table "numbers" were familiar to all Steelers fans:  43, 86, 83, 58, 75, 32.... you get the idea.  This was actually ingenious because no one could get offended that they weren't at a "more important" table number!

We had black favor boxes with gold writing, and inside were black and gold foil wrapped Lindt truffles.  No black on the flowers - just white and gold.  My adult attendants wore black, the Jr. Bridesmaids wore gold.  Last song of the night?  Renegade.  It was perfect.

Ok you know it's a fun party when you're guests are dancing with the Terrible Towel on their heads.  We had a few guests who went this route.  When Renegade played at the end of the night, everyone was on the floor with the towels, singing REALLY loudly!  And you have to remember - this was in New York, and there were only about 20 actual Steelers fans there!

I had so many people tell me that our wedding was the most fun they had EVER had at a wedding, and I was so happy!  That's exactly what we wanted.

From our engagement photos, taken by a friend - this really says it all:

Thanks so much!  Part of me wishes we could have had the wedding in Pittsburgh, but my husband has so much family out here that it just made sense to have the wedding in NY.

Best wishes to you all for a great wedding and fantastic married life!  :-)
