What a Relief!

I booked my venue and photographer!! Now onto the DJ.

I'm finally starting to get excited about all of this instead of feeling overwhelmed. This is probably the first thing I've planned in my life that I started working on right away a paced myself so that I don't leave it all until the last minute. What a feeling!

The thing I'm having the most trouble with is a theme. I don't necessarily need it to be an actaul theme wedding, so to speak but I'm having a hard time thinking of one thing that will tie the event together. For example, my when my future SIL got married she did a wine theme. She had wine corks holding all the place cards and did wine-related stuff for favors.

Anyone have any simple and fun suggestions?

You really don't need a theme. Other than carrying our colors into places throughout the reception, we didn't have a theme. I've never been to a wedding with a theme.

You don't need a theme. Carry the colors and the style throughout the day and it will all look put together.

Our colors were black, white, burgundy and damask print. The programs, cocktail hour, place cards, and reception room were all in those colors. And it all tied together beautifully.

Themes are fun. And are great if they speak of the couple.  But they are definitely NOT needed.

PS - Congrats on the venue and photographer checks!

I chose Kimberly Salem for photgrapher. I'm excited to work with her.

Thanks all! I know a theme isn't necessary but I just wanted to do a little something. I'm having such a hard time picking colors. One second I like one combo and the next i change my mind. I was hoping that having a simple theme might inspire the rest but we'll see. I know I have plenty of time although it goes by quickly.
