NWR - Over rated travel?

A coworker and I were talking last week and I told her how cool it was that she gets to go to the Hamptons, NY for a business trip. I have always wanted to go and I hear it is great. She came back today and said it was nice but completely over rated. I honestly felt disappointed that she was not excited about her trip. I'm still going to plan a trip one day and go but I'm curious. Where have you been that people rave about and you felt it is over rated??

Domestic or International please explain.....

NYC. No offense to anyone from there, but it's seriously over rated! FI is from there, so I've been several times and I would not want to live there. It's expensive, dirty, noisy etc. Maybe I'm just not a city girl, but I just don't get it lol

Yup, hopefully no one is offended. Everyone has different ideas of a great trip. I heard NYC has a great party scene but if that's not your style than you wouldn't enjoy it.

I must not be in touch with my nature side but I wasn't blown away by the Grand Canyon.

<div>Yes, it has a great party scene and I always have fun when we go, but I would not want to live there. We almost moved there to be closer to his family because of is dad's health and I would move of course if we had to, but I love ATL better.</div>

I'm hurt y'all didn't love Miami!!!! But the Bahamas is so overated its not even funny. I get the same experience at any beach in FL.

Worth the hype: Miami, Colorado (skiing), and New Orleans

The Bahamas was overated for me.  I enjoyed NY.  I wouldn't want to live there, but it was great to  visit.

I third Miami/South Beach! My family frequents Florida for vacation but as an adult I finally experienced  the South Beach scene last year and FI and I were not impressed. I have a friend who LOVES it there but then again FI and I are not the super party type (he is not at all). Maybe thats why. We are actually going back soon for a sporting event so I'll give it a second try.

Expect to see pretty blue water in Cozumel. Coming from Tennesse you will enjoy that but don't expect too much else. I took a cruise there years ago and when we landed the locals were very pushy for you to buy things from the market.

We rented bikes and rode down the coast. That was the funest part but you can do that anywhere. You may enjoy the Mayan ruins. Basicly after spending a day there I was ready to leave. If you stay a week you will get bored.
