Our Future Secret Santa Exchange......

We all agreed on the state/regional item idea, and I think $25 for the limit is perfectly reasonable.

Now question is, how should we structure this and when should it officially start?

Re: Our Future Secret Santa Exchange......

  • Normally one person collects all participants names and then pairs them up. A date is chosen to have it delivered by so that everyone can open up on the same day.

  • I don't do Christmas until after Thanksgiving.  We could start then?  One person has to be in charge of assigning people. Stephanie?

  • Well that elfster site looked pretty straight forward and it is free. Otherwise one person has to collect everyone's shipping info and then pass it out.
I really don't care when we pick names, but I was thinking we should have a specific date in December when we should ship by and a day we all open them on. Say ship by Dec 10th and Open on Dec 21st?  Just throwing out an example.

I'm just not sure how realistic it would be to have all of us be able to open them on the same day since we live all over, and depending on where your person is it'll take a longer or shorter time for them to get it, KWIM?<div>
</div><div>That's why I was saying there should be a date that it officially 'begin' and have an 'end date' where everyone should have gotten their gift by that date. And of course when you got your gift, you'd start a new post with a picture of what you got.</div>

I definitely think elfster's the way to go as opposed to me asking you guys for your addresses and stuff.

ETA: I too agree with it starting after Thanksgiving. As it gets closer, I'll just make a post asking everyone to PM me their email address. I'll start an exchange on Elfster and invite everyone to it.

  • I think that going through elfster would be the easiest. It would be cool if we could figure out a way so that we open them/post about them with in the same couple days but if not I agree with the start/end frame. This is exciting! I love the holidays!

  • Im super flexible and think elfster is the way to go :D

Can we elaborate on the region thing? Like if I lived in California, wine would be my gift? Is that the general idea?

Whatever you feel represents your area or culture, or something local you just LOVE and they probably can't get near them..

I am in WI so part of it will definitely be cheese ;) (GOOD cheese!)
But you could always pic up something from a local artist or handmade item.
that way we don't have to give lists.. If you are allergic to something that would be good to know though ;)

    That make sense?
