Photog sticker shock!

Just got an e-mail today saying that my DD's wedding album is ready for pick-up....and that there is a $730 balance due!!  Wha.....?????  Holy Moly! You mean to tell me that we spent over $3,000 for just the day-of photoghaphy and the CD of pics?????    I don't know where I ever got the stupid idea that the album was included in that price. :/

Advice:  make sure you KNOW what you are paying for when you sign the contract!  And if the album is not included....get an estimated cost so you are prepared for the bill!!!!

 oy vay...lesson learned.

Wow!!  That is a big number if you weren't expecting it!  Sorry to hear about that.  I'll definitely make sure I know all the numbers up front!

A surprise bill would definitely suck, but good photography comes at a price! For your and your DD's sake, I'm hoping it was a good photography! I hope she treasures her album for many many years. :)

Yikes!! Good advice! My photographer had a very detailed contract. It included the hours the photogs will be at X location to shoot, the maximum number of photos Ben and I will be able to choose to include in our album (that is included in the cost), and even the length of break the photogs will require at the event.

I agree with Mamie. I hope the album will be worth the price. Havine the CD is great, but this is the photographer quality album! I'd be more happy to go over my budget in the photography department rather than something like the bar tab. I hope you and your DD are thrilled with the results even though you feel like you've been sucker-punched!!

That is probably on the cheaper side.  Some of the very good photographers run at least double that.  We went with Conte which is much more in our budget.  I'm just afraid that we will be getting what we paid for, as in not as great of photos as a more expensive place.

Yowza!  I agree!  You should always know what you're getting up front!  Shame on the photographer for not making it clear and known though.  Insane!

To previous poster about Conte...see if you can get in writing or at least a verbal communication as to which photographer will be there day of.  Those larger chains like Frank King and Conte charge you like you're having King and Conte there but in almost all cases it's a substitute photograher.  Some on Conte's team though shoot in a photojournalistic style so if not already chosen I'd recommend working that out.
