Just got back from our dream honeymoon!

My honeymoon dreams all came true!  Royal Plantation, in Jamaica, thank you!!  If anyone has any questions, please ask – I’ll be happy to answer.  It was the little differences that made it special over the Sandals/Couples/etc which we have been to before…(1) staff butlers that surprised us everyday with special baths when we got back from the beach, cheesecake for two at turndowns, personal escorts to dinner, champagne bucket, everyday a different surprise, (2) exquisite food that meant menu service at every meal (no buffet) and properly prepared meats including beef, duck and veal, (3) no group transportation from the airport to hotel, dropping people off at other hotels along the way – you get direct service to start your vacation sooner (4) no resort bracelet to wear (staff knows who belongs and who doesn’t), (5) impeccably clean beach and grounds – I even felt comfortable going barefoot in the beach bathroom!, (6) safe drinking water even from the bathroom tap.  We have been to many other resorts around the Caribbean and RP outshines them all.  I have never felt so cared for by a resort before.  An example…We were eating lunch one day at the beachside café and my napkin blew off my lap.  Before I could even reach over to pick it up, the waitress was there, handing me a new one.  A different time I ordered a dessert after dinner that I just didn’t care for…I had tasted it and slightly pushed it away from me (too chocolately.)  The waiter immediately came from behind me, took it and asked ‘”would I prefer the xxx instead?”  I had a new dessert before my husband was even three bites into his.  Nothing we did (except my spa service) or had was an extra expense, truly all inclusive.  We pre-booked to return for our anniversary next year.

  • if you don't mind, what was the ballpark figure you spent?  where did you travel from?
  • That's funny . . . your profile says you're not getting married until  July, 2011. And this is your first post ever . . . Hmmm . . .

  • Not a vendor.  I lost my original account when I changed jobs and couldn't reset my password, and now I've just been lurking with the new account.  The July date is my hubby's 30th birthdate next year.   We flew out of St. Louis, with a layover in Atlanta.
  • Was it cheaper going through a travel agency or on your own? Sounds like it was nice...

  • We booked directly through the resort website, it was offering the best deal at that time.   They also took care of the flight arrangements.  We paid $758 a night for the midlevel room, got 1 night and a sunset cruise free.  Our decision came down to either booking a regular room at the RP or getting an upgraded room at the Sandals (the price was about the same)...we decided that we were going to spend more time on the beach and eating than watching tv in the room...and went with RP.
