BF is going to go talk to my Dad today.

BF and I are celebrating our one year anniversary. And he's mentioned to a few of my family members that he wants to ask my father for my hand. He is kind of nervous and doesn't exactly know what to say. Any one have pointers for him? It be appreciated! Thanks in advance.

    I think it's much more appropriate to ask for his blessing than asking him if he can marry you. What do you do if your father says no? Awkward. I'm sure that whatever he says will be fine...and nervewracking

    I'm an only child and he's very protective over my son and I. I expect he'll say yes because he's been forewarned by 3 or 4 family members including my mom. He'll say yes, but he'll give my bf a tad of a tough time.

    I likewise think my dad will be very excited to be asked, but it goes back to his having to ask my mom's father for her hand (which is possibly the greatest proposal story I've ever heard). Your BF will do fine. Exciting times! :)

    Congrats! My bf just asked my dad on Sunday :) He said yes and wants to do lunch in a few weeks. Just tell your bf to be frank and upfront. He will respect him for it. He should let your father know how much he loves you. If it's genuine, he will be able to tell. Good luck to you both!
