1. Your name? FI's name? - Emily and Greg

2. How'd you meet your FI? How long have you been together? - Greg sent me a message randomly on Facebook and I actually responded to it. We have been together for 3.5 years.

3. What's your favorite thing about wedding planning so far? Least favorite? - I can't really think of a favorite thing... so far I haven't really liked any part of this. I have been doing a ton of research but I just get frustrated and give up. I started dress shopping last week and I am having a really hard time with it. I am not into it and I am not finding anything I really like. All of the dresses are nice but they are either too fancy, too expensive or not nice enough... blah! I will get through it though.

4. Any questions for the rest of us? - Are your FIs into the planning? I like to call my other half Capt. Research because he can't do anything without researching it for weeks but he won't help me at all with the wedding stuff! I can't decide if he just doesn't care or if I am pushing him too soon. Is it unreasonable to expect him to actually want to get married in a reasonable amount of time since he did propose?

Hello! I'm relatively new to the boards, so I'll formally introduce myself :)

1. My name's Julia and my FI's named Alex.
2. My FI and I met in college in Des Moines, IA. He moved up to MN for grad school and we were long distance for 2 years! Then, I moved up to MN and we've lived together for almost a year. We've been together for almost 4 years.
3. My favorite thing about planning so far has been brainstorming all the details like colors, favors, cake, and decorations. Oh! And I'm lucky to have a FI who wants to be 100% involved :) My least favorite thing about planning is health concerns. I have an autoimmune neuromuscular disease, so I have flare-ups, sometimes lasting for months. It's hard to plan some things without knowing how my health will be on the big day.
4. What are everyone's opinions on DOCs? I'm interested in seeking out someone to coordinate all the details on the big day, but my FI doesn't think we'd need one. Also, how do I add a picture or a signature?

Welcome, ladies :)

Emily- mine is, but he's super overwhelmed. About a month into planning we reached an agreement. He gives me a rough idea of what he likes so we can compare. I pick like 3-4 options, and then he decides between those. I love the researching, etc, so it hasn't bugged me yet.

Julia- DOCs seem to be a pretty common thing here. We're still deciding. I'm pretty type A, so I'll probably be worried about the little stuff all day, which makes me think I'll need a DOC. On the other hand, I have a bunch of friends who LOVE wedding stuff, so I might just ask for their help? We'll see.

As far as pictures go- check out my FAQ post at the top of the board (or you can check out the MSP bio- link in my signature for more FAQs!) It should explain how to do it; if you have any questions, let me know!

Emily -

I would make a list of things that you need to do, or look at the knot's checklists, and write down all your ideas for each thing. Ask your FI if there's a time when you two can sit down and just brainstorm, whether it's serious ideas or just silly ideas. That way, even if you don't decide on anything, you can get the gears turning and start the wedding conversation. I would bet it's not that your FI doesn't care, it might be that he doesn't know where to start either or he's nervous and isn't sure what to do. Having a brainstorming session might be a good way to loosen him up and get him involved. (I didn't mean my comment in my post about my FI to be a response to your post, if it came across that way. Our posts went up at the same time). My FI wasn't as gung-ho about planning as I was at first, but he got into it.

Good luck! Just relax and take things one step at a time :)

Take a look at Maria at Ispiri Events. She is SUPER affordable and I just signed a contract with her. She has been very helpful with questions I've had already. Pretty much no one in my WP or FMIL think I need a DOC but I convinced my FI when I reminded him how much more relaxed and plesant I will be if I have someone taking care of things the week of and day of. :) I'd say if a DOC seems like something that would benefit you and help you enjoy your day more, as long as it fits in your budget, why not?

1. Your name? FI's name? Katie & Cameron

2. How'd you meet your FI? How long have you been together? We met in high school. It sounds super corny, but in eighth grade he told all of his friends that he was going to marry me someday. We started dating senior year and have been together for almost 6 years now.

3. What's your favorite thing about wedding planning so far? Least favorite? Humm.....I don't really have a favorite thing, I really just enjoy trying to envision what the whole day is going to look like.
Most frustrating is easy....my mother! Don't get me wrong, I love her and her ideas, but it is my wedding, she has already had hers.

4. Any questions for the rest of us?
Yes! I am really struggling with hair ideas. I have medium length blond straight hair. I want to wear it up, but don't want to go overboard with curls. Something simple and elegant.

2. How'd you meet your FI? How long have you been together?

3. What's your favorite thing about wedding planning so far? Least favorite?

I have already booked the venue, photographer, DJ, photo booth (just a month in) so, I guess that is what I like best. Least-- the officant. They are all tacky!

4. Any questions for the rest of us?

What is all this DOC, DH...etc stuff? I am new to this and have no idea what anyone is talking about!

Emily- My FI is really into planning. It's a blessing and a curse. Mainly a blessing! He's willing to help with all the DIY stuff which is really nice and it's fun to see him so excited. But sometimes it'd really just be easier to be able to make some decisions without him :-P

Julia- So glad to see you over here! I'm excited to finally have a potential date twin on the MSP boards! As far as a DOC, I didn't think I'd need one at all at first. Now, I'm so happy we have one. After 2 years and 5 months of planning, I really want to be able to enjoy my wedding day without stressing over who's where and what needs to be done. I also DON'T want to ask any of my guests to do things like set up, haul gifts to the car, etc. I was just the lacky at a friend of mine's wedding and it's really what I remember from the day. Not fun. I want my guests to enjoy themselves

Alexis- DOC=day of coordinator DH= dear husband....if you click the link in Steph (the mod's) signature that says MSP bio, there is a list in their under FAQ that defines all of the abbreviations
