I've been asking about photographers and you've given great options! I have fallen in love with 2 - Mike Landis and my #1 choice, Tony Hoffer. Tony is booked and Mike shared someone is interested in the same date as me... :(

Photography is my "splurge" but I want to keep it under 4k. I like photo-journalistic shots. Unique angles and pics that capture moments, not poses. I'd loooove them to have crisp color and bold contrast. Basically - I want Tony Hoffer. Haha.

Any other photog recommendations similar to this style?

    So sorry to hear that your #1 and #2 are not available.  I am actually using Tony for our wedding so I understand what you are looking for.  He is AMAZING!

    I am not sure of their prices but I would check out: http://www.jennchildress.com/ and http://www.jeffwojtaszek.com/

    While they are not Tony they have very similar feels to them I think.

    Did you look into Marc Anthony?   I'm looking for about the same style and price as you.  I was emailing Marc, but he ended up getting booked... b00!

    Ahh. I'm so envious of you girls - your photos will be amazing! I'm kiiiiind of considering changing my wedding date so I can book him. haha :) I hope I can find someone wth a similar style and decent price. The search continues...

    I used Mike Landis, but we were going to book with Todd Zimmerman first. The only reason I didn't book with him is because someone snagged our date before we could.

    Have you looked into Craig Single of Single Exposure?  A good friend of mine wanted Tony Hoffer, but she couldn't afford him so she went with Craig instead.

    Ryan is more than Mike, so that would be a no go.   And I think Sarahs style is great, but fairly different from Mike Landis and Tony Hoffer in her use of color, so I don't know I'd go that route.  How much is Sandor Welsh?  I love his photos.. Someone page Kagiki!

    Oodies, I agree. I was looking at Sarah but it's not exactly what I'm looking for. I love crisp color - high levels of contrast, pictures that pop. May of the other photogs, while there photos are great, they have more of a subdued feel to them.

    I've e-mailed some of the others you mentioned to get some ideas! Tony Hoffer was also nice enough to recommend someone for me. Am I crazy for still considering moving my wedding date so I can have him? Haha.

    I didn't realize how far in advance vendors book! And I am a procrastinator. Bad combo.

    Oh yes sandor welsh is also similar. And ditto about Sarah. I loved her and used her, but I feel her pictures are quite different then those mentioned above. If you like her work though, she was ah mazing and I <3 her!

    I am going for a vintage-garden themed wedding (natural, elegant, with pops of apple green) -  but I want modern photos. Those ladies are perrrfect for vintage, softer photos. I actually have some friends that I may recommend them to, that's more their style.

    Jenn Childress is great. I'll have to look into her pricing though, for some reason, I thought she might be a little more $$. I'll look and see.

    I'm so jealous of all you ladies that booked Tony Hoffer!  He was out of my price range =/  I would also recommend Steve Saldana @Saldana Studios.  I initally booked him but realized he was prob out of my price range too (around $4k)

    I second Marc Anthony and I know he does just as good as Tony. I met with Tony and didn't see a huge difference between the two, except for a $3000 price difference. He did a friend of a friends wedding too and I thought the pictures were lovely. You can see her picts at http://www.marcanthonyphoto.com/wordpress/?p=4533. Also, high contrast is nothing more than using photoshop. Marc definitely has the style you want. His processing is somewhat different but I am sure he can do the same thing Tony does. Style wise there is NO difference. Jenn Childress is good but I think she processes her photos too much and she's way out the price range as well.

    Just wanted to recommend my photographer - Sean Marshall Lin :)
    His pictures are definitely photo-journalistic- and his prices are amazing considering his included hours in packages, retouching of all photos - and no limit on how many photos, packages that include albums, or just packages with CD and you own rights etc.

    We're using Aaron Mitchell Photography which is a husband and wife team.  They have a photojournalistic style and, depending on which package you choose, can be under $4000 for both photographers.  We've known them for a year or so and are great, fun people to work with.

    I love me some Tony, too.  In my opinion, there is just no one out there who quite compares.  I used Doug Burns for my wedding because I do also love what he does in terms of light and color - www.candidmomentsphotograhy.com. You may want to also e-mail Tony and meet with him to see who he would recommend himself - photographers will often recommend their second shooters or buddies or theirs if they are booked or just can't make it work budget-wise for you. 

    They are also not at the same level experience-wise, but Rich Lavigne is also a buddy of Tony's and has worked with him before on a few things.
