Father Daughter Dance Songs that wont make me sob?

Re: Father Daughter Dance Songs that wont make me sob?

  • I think my dad and I will dance to "Sweet child of mine" by guns and roses. It's a great classic rock song and it fits "she's got a smile and it seems to me, reminds me of childhood memories" its sweet if you listen to it and upbeat enough that I hope i'll be having fun rather than crying...I know how you feel, I'm crying all the time when I think of the big day (happy tears though)
  • my friend danced with her father to this song:

    Daddy's Girl by Red Sovine

Its really cute and funny as well as upbeat! :o) Good luck Sealed
  • I think My Girl seems like a pretty safe bet, although honestly I think we could pick the alphabet song and I'd still manage to squeeze out a few tears...

We are using "Daughter" by Loudon Wainwright III. We also checked out "Father and Daughter" by Paul Simon. Loudon Wainwright is a little more of an indie choice, but we both just loved it.
  • I believe we will be dancing to John Lennon's Stand By Me
  • I'm thinking "You Are So Beautiful" by Joe Cocker.
  • I finally figured mine out.  Mine is not really a traditional wedding.  We are doing the Guns n Roses Acoustic instrumental version of the Rolling Stone's "wild horses"  since I like rock and horses.
  • We are dancing to "Little Miss Magic" by Jimmy Buffett.  It is perfect if you are his only daughter!
  • "Brown eyed girl" by van morrison is sweet and upbeat, as long as your eyes are brown
  • Wow great songs girls!! :)
  • Someone already suggested this, but my dad and I are dancing to James Taylor "You've Got a Friend."  I am terribly emotional, and my dad is almost as bad.  I think it will be fun and hopefully upbeat!
  • We danced to the begining of the forest gump suite and I had Loudin Wainwright's Daughter played later.

  • I would love to do "Brown Eyed Girl" for my Dad and I. We both love oldies, and when I was little at weddings, we would always dance to this song while I stood on his feet. Laughing

I tend to prefer a more indie vibe and will be going with "You are my Joy" by Reindeer Section. Isn't She Lovely is also a wonderful choice and a safer choice, my fiancee actually prefers that one since he is more of a "classics" lover. Smile
  • For me and my father its not a particular song. When I grew up we would do Civil war reanactments and I would always Waltz with my dad at the Civil war balls. Or my family is from an very Italian town and I also grew up doing the polka dances with my dad so we are trying to decide if we are going to either Waltz, or Polka so that way there will be no tears from either of us.
Don't lose you, cause the best luck I had was you. Wedding Countdown Ticker
  • We were thinking Jimmy Buffett since that's what we listened to growing up.  "Savannah Fare Thee Well," "Changing Channels," and "Lovely Cruise" are all contendors - there is also "Little Miss Magic," but I promised my sister that one.
  • ·         Edelweiss (Sound of Music)·         I’ll be there (Mariah Carey or Jackson Five)·         What a Wonderful World (Louis Armstrong)·         In My Life (The Beatles)·         The Way You Look Tonight (Elton John)·         Lullaby (Billy Joel) - Might be a little sappy though :)·         I Hope You Dance (Leann Womack)
  • I'm actually not doing the father/daughter dance.  My father taught me how to play guitar and some of my favorite memories include the both of us playing and singing together.  So we're bringing our six strings and playing a tune instead.  "Sweet Baby James" by James Taylor.  The first song I remember him playing to my sisters and I as a child.
