Just when I thought I was ahead!

in May 2013 Weddings

LOL - just found this board, and just when I thought I was ahead with my planning, I realize I'm behind after reading some posts!

I haven't started looking at dresses yet, although have some ideas in mind.  (However, after being in 14 weddings already, I seem to know what I want/don't want!) 

Does everyone else have their dress already?

    I have my dress.  I'm sure you're not far behind- we still have a year so there's plenty of time.  Some of us (like me!) got started early because we don't have a lot of time otherwise and didn't want to stress out when it gets closer to the wedding.

    Wow 14 weddings! Whoa!

    Anyway, most of us are planners- myself included :-) I've had my dress for a little over a year now actually, got it during DB's $99 sale and would've been a fool to pass it up.

    I have found THE dress and ordered it in April.  It will take 6-8 months to come in.

    Don't feel like you're behind.  I bought a dress 6 months ago, and am now selling it.  Hopefully it sells soon since I found the one I want.  And as much as I want it, I can't buy it until the first one sells.

    Buying my dress on June 23rd! I've had it picked but I'm taking my bridesmaids to look at it when we start looking at their dresses, so I figured I'd buy it on that day!

    Don't feel like you're behind! I've been engaged since August so I went to try on dresses this past winter to get it out out of my system (I wasn't ready to buy anything just yet). I started really searching for my dress at the end of April & just found it & put the deposit down last week. You have plenty of time but keep in mind some dresses take a while (6-8 months as PP said) to come in so I wouldn't wait too much longer to start looking!

    I'm a little worried...I won't be going dress shopping until July...will that be early enough for a dress to be ordered and shipped in time for alterations/fittings??  I won't be dress shopping till then because that will be the next time I'll be in my mom's area and it means a lot for her to be there.

    I think you'd still be okay :-) That allows 8 months for it to come in and if necessary, 2 months to get the alterations you need.

    I bought my dress last September, a couple of months after I got engaged. I just planned on looking for fun, and ended up finding my dress that day.

    I bought mine about 2 months ago, it's being custom-ordered for length (it's all lace) so it will take a while to come in. Don't want to be pressed for time, and it was the right dress, so why not order it?!

    Good luck with your dress search! The brides on this board are pretty on top of things, so don't feel behind. You're probably right on schedule, the rest of us are all moving ahead of schedule. :)

    Whewwww! - glad to hear that I'm not the only one without a dress yet. I do plan on starting my search in about a month, which should definitely give me plenty of time to get it ordered, have alterations, etc... 

    I thought I was a "planner", but you have me all beat!! Ha!!
