Wedding preparedness kit

I'm about to make a list of stuff I need with me at the venue day of. I'm getting dressed and hair did and makeup'd at the venue, so if I forget something, I'm probably up shiit creek. So far, I have all the obvious stuff: dress, underwear, shoes. I'll also have my suitcase for the HM packed and with me. Help me think of any stuff I'm forgetting please. And any advice you have for day of would be grand. TIA.

  • Deodorant.

Also, have pills for every kind of ailment possible: antacids, nausea pills, gas pills, headache pills, allergy pills.

Have someone in charge of your stuff. All of my stuff made it to where it was supposed to thanks to the people looking out for me.

My "bring to venue" list included:  dress, shoes, undergarments, panty hose, extra panty hose, deodorant, safety pins, tiny sewing kit (the kind I probably picked up from a hotel stay somewhere), those melty-wax-paper-mouth-freshener things, cosmetics (a whole other list for me), toothbrush & toothpaste & floss, and hairspray.  ETA:  oh yes, and ibuprofen and antacids and band-aids.

Also things like the programs and our marriage license.
  • Marriage license.  I've read horror stories of people forgetting to bring theirs.
Also bring a list of your vendor's contact information, just in case.

On the day of, sit back, relax, and try to take a moment to just take everything in.  Do not forget to eat!

And betrothed, I'm disgusted with most of the comments that you have posted. I don't think I've ever read such judgmental comments in my life. I'm so lucky that the girls I speak to on theknot are nothing like you...I would've never come on here for ADVICE if I would've encountered a big a bitch as you. I genuinely feel awful for your children or your future children, and I think it would be irresponsible of YOU not to invest in their future therapy sessions starting now. Because trust me when I tell you honey, they're gonna need it. ~jcaruncho2010

I was thinking about this earlier today. Who holds onto the rings? Who is supposed to have them at the ceremony?

And thanks everybody. I'm adding to my list as we speak.

  • We gave our rings to our officiant (H's brother).  H's best man was 16 and kind of flighty so we felt it best to not have him hold them ha.

  • OMG don't forget the wedding rings!  Hahaha I wouldn't let FI hang on to ours because I didn't trust him to remember them and I ended up forgetting them and delaying our ceremony by 15 minutes while the wedding coordinator ran allllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll the way back to my room to retrieve them.

  • You might want to bring your camera.  I know the only photos I had to look at right after the wedding were the few I had people take while we were getting ready.  I wish I had taken more but it's not like I had to wait that long for my pictures anyway since the hotel had them ready a couple days later.

  • Oh and my advice?  Start the day with champagne, breakfast of champions.

  • Snacks! Make sure you eat something. My aunt is hypoglycemic (maybe hyperglycemic... whichever one gives you low blood sugar), so we always make sure there is something on hand. You will get so excited that you may not feel like eating, but please do! And water to stay hydrated!

I did 3 boxes--one for RD, one for ceremony (included marriage license), one for reception (included vendor tips).  I took my Knot checklist and packed everything in each one so on the day of, I just had to load them in the car knowing everything was there.

My personal bag included:  garter, wedding jewelry, undies, brooch for bouquet, veil/comb, wedding night attire, phone/charger, Bride robe to get ready in, DH's wedding gift and ring, clothes for the next day, and bottled water.

That's my mom's plan :) I'm staying at my grandmother's with my parents the night before and mom has planned a big fat mimosa brunch for Saturday morning.

  • Double-sided tape!

Some kind of a little bag to have at the reception with lipstick, lip gloss, etc.
  • Extra razor!  I forgot one and my awesome mom went to the store for me.  Also eyedrops if you'll be wearing contacts.  I put mine in during the morning to have my makeup done, and by the time I got to church my eyes were burning.  I had eyedrops, so I was okay, but again, those came from the drugstore run.

  • Make sure your FI has his cufflinks, if he's wearing them. We forgot H's and had to improvise.

  • Oh yeah Sesh. I remember your zip tie story :)

  • Haha, reading this list, I'm imagining you walking around w/ a duffle bag full of wedding preparedness
  • Breathe.  :D  Eat.  Have a beverage or two.

The drama on our wedding day is that my mom forgot to bring my something borrowed - her diamond necklace.  When she and my sis went home to get it, the car died on them and they had some transportation issues, but ended up folding everyone into mom's little VW Bug instead (it was her Infinity that crapped out).  And also, somebody put my car keys in the wrong bag at the reception, so that made for a mess the next morning.

The stuff everybody mentioned is good, but we didn't really need any of it.

  • Did anyone say straws? Don't want to mess up your lipstick.

Mine had a sewing kit, tums, mints, mouthwash, tampons, aspirin, straws, clear nail polish, and a tide stick.

  • A small sewing kit, q-tips, kleenex, safety pins, advil/tylenol, bottled water & something to snack on.

My mom used my sewing kit to sew all the buttons abck on the grooms party tuxes!
  • Things I packed for the day of and actually used:
    -Dress, shoes, undergarments + jewelry
    -My hair piece
    -Perfume
    -Deodorant
-Needle and thread (we needed it!)
-Cleansing cloths (used one before the makeup artist did my makup....I wanted that just washed feeling)
    -Toothbrush, paste
    -Gum/mints
    -Hairspray and brush
-Blowdryer and flat iron (for touch-ups)
-My own makeup case (just for a few touch-ups)
-Advil and my own meds for that day
    -Vendor list with phone numbers
    -Copies of the ceremony order
    -A gigantic bag of pretzels
    -Bottled water

Advice?  Eat a big breakfast, lunch etc.  People say "Eat light, you don't want to feel full".....blah blah blah!   I ate a huge, filling salad and pretzels for lunch and was so thankful b/c once things get going, you will have no time to eat!  I had hardly any of my own wedding food :(  So yeah, eat plenty during the day.  A few glasses of wine in the afternoon works wonders for de-stressing :)
